g) Activating the drive control
Check again whether the transmitter is switched on and ready for operation and whether the vehicle is
placed on a suitable surface (e.g. a starter box) so that the wheels can turn freely and do not contact the
ground.
Set the switch (see figure 2) for the drive control unit to the "ON" position. Observe the marking on the switch.
h) Checking drive and steering functions
Prior to each operation of the car, check whether the settings on the transmitter are correct and whether the car
responds correctly to the control commands sent by the transmitter. The numbers in brackets refer to figure 1 in
chapter 7.
• Adjust the trim for the drive (10) so that the drive does not move when the throttle lever (13) is released.
• Adjust the trim for the steering (9) in such a way that the front wheels are straight when letting go of the steering dial
(8).
• Turn the dual rate control (12) all the way to the right so that the steering deflection is set to maximum. The control
can be adjusted as required while driving as well.
• Turn all four rotary controls "EPA-TH" and "EPA-ST" (11) completely to the right.
• Check the correct reaction of the steering to the steering dial (8). If the reaction is opposite to your commands
(steering dial to the left, steering deflection to the right), put the reverse switch (3) into the opposing position.
• Check the correct reaction of the drive to the throttle lever (13). If necessary, use the reverse switch (4) to invert
forward/reverse drive. Ensure that you refer to chapter 9. j).
Observe the LED on the drive control.
In the neutral setting the LED is off, otherwise it is lit; in addition the LED goes out when the lever is in full
acceleration forward position. In this way you can easily check whether the neutral setting on the transmitter
is correctly adjusted with the trim control and whether the full acceleration forwards setting is correctly
programmed (see chapter 10).
• With the two "EPA-ST" dials (11), you can now adjust the maximum steering deflection to the left or the right. As
described previously in chapter 7, the end point of the servo should correspond exactly with the end point of the
steering mechanism. This takes pressure off the gears in the servo and also saves power.
i) Attaching and fastening the car body
Guide the antenna tube from underneath the car body through the hole intended for it. If no opening is present, use an
appropriate tool to make the hole in the right place.
Now put the car body on the retaining pins and secure it with the attachment clips removed at the start.
Your car is now ready for its first test run!
