Inspection, Maintenance and Storage
Recommended Inspection and Maintenance Intervals
The following information is taken from BGR 190, one of the
Regulations of the Employer's Liability Insurance Association in
Germany. Observe national directives.

Cleaning and Disinfection
Prior to cleaning, remove all accessories, e. g. spectacles or
communication system, and clean separately
fect the facepiece after every use.
Never use solvents such as acetone, alcohol, etc. to clean the
mask. Only use the cleaning agents and disinfectants listed
below.
The facepiece can be damaged by using higher dosages of
cleaning/disinfecting agents and/or applying them for a
longer period of time than stated in these instructions and/or
stipulated by the agent manufacturer, e. g.:
— A prolonged influence of water, especially in combination
1) with cleaning agents or disinfectants, can damage the

coating of the visors marked PCas and PCaf.

— The visor can become brittle.
The inside of visors with anti-fog coating may neither be
cleaned nor dried with a cloth, as this could damage the coat-
X
ing, so only rinse with clear water and allow to dry.
Clean and disinfect the facepiece as described below:

Clean facepiece with water (max. 30
purpose cleaner Sekusept Cleaner

1,0 % solution) and with a cloth, immediately afterwards, re-
move the cleaning agent completely under running water.
For 15 minutes, put the facepiece in the disinfectant bath

(max. 30 C) with the Incidur
then use running water to completely remove the disinfectant
immediately afterwards.
Leave the mask to dry completely in the drying closet or in air.
Maximum temperature 60
light.
Relubricate the sliding surfaces (ball joint, guide plate)
of the mask/helmet adapter with Voltalev® or
Molykote® 111.
Apply a thin layer of Vaseline or Molykote
surfaces of the connection piece (Figure A3-18) .

Leak Tests

The leak test should be performed with an appropriate test

The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is
less than 1 mbar per minute. If the facepiece is leaky, continue
with (2).

When testing facepieces sized L, particularly S, the mask is to
be donned carefully on the test heads sized M, since the seal-
ing line is not optimally sealed at times. Moistening the sealing
line facilitates the exact donning because the mask can better
slide on the rubber test heads.

Moisten sealing frame and exhalation valve with water.
Mount the facepiece on the test head, use a holder suitable
for mask/helmet combinations, if necessary.
Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the
test head. Inflate the test head, if necessary.
Adjust the connection piece with adapter tightly and produce
a negative pressure of 10 mbar.
Remove exhalation valve disc.
Plug in the exhalation valve test plug.
Produce a vacuum of 10 mbar.
If the pressure drop is less than 1 mbar per minute, remove
the exhalation valve test plug and insert a new valve disk.
Repeat the leak test (1). If the facepiece is leaky, see (3).
Immerse the test head including the facepiece with exhala-
tion valve test plug in the water.
Produce a positive pressure of approx. 10 mbar.
Slowly turn the test head under the water surface. Emerging
bubbles indicate leaks.
Take the test head with the facepiece out of the water, repair
the facepiece or replace leaking components.
Remove the exhalation valve test plug and mount the exhala-
tion valve.
Repeat the leak test (1).
The opening pressure must be at least 4.2 mbar at a
constant flow of 10 l per minute. If this opening pres-
sure is not reached, turn the valve disk to remove dust
particles or the like between the crater and the valve
disk. Repeat the test. If the opening pressure is still
not reached, replace the spring (Figure A3, 27) and
repeat the test.
