If the red control indicator does not extinguish when you
press the "TEST" button or if it extinguishes repeatedly when
the power tool is switched on, then you must have the power
tool checked by an authorised Bosch after-sales service
agent.
 If the portable residual current device (PRCD) is defec-
tive, the power tool must not be operated.
Switching On
Press the "RESET" button on the portable residual current
device (PRCD) 2.
Set the water cock 8 to flow.
To switch on the machine, flip the On/Off switch 3 to
position I.
To save energy, only switch the power tool on when using it.
Switching Off
To switch off the machine, flip the On/Off switch 3 to position
0.
Shut the water cock 8. After finishing work, disconnect the
water outlet connector 7 from the water supply. Open the wa-
ter cock 8 and drain the remaining water.
Reduced starting current
The electronics of the power tool make the motor start softly,
therefore preventing the starting current from being too high.
Restarting Protection
The restarting protection feature prevents uncontrolled
restarting of the machine after an interruption in the power
supply.
To restart, press the "RESET" button on the portable residu-
al current device (PRCD) 2. Then switch the On/Off switch 3
to the off-position and switch the power tool on again.
Preselecting the Speed
Three speeds can be preselected using the gear selector 6.
The gears are recommended for the following drilling diame-
ters:
1st gear
165–350 mm
2nd gear
80–160 mm
3rd gear
55–105 mm

Working Advice

 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
Loosen the parking brake 5 in order to drill. When doing so,
hold the star handle 4 of the drill stand in place in order to pre-
vent the drill from sliding down in an uncontrolled manner
(see operating instructions of the drill stand).
Start drilling in 1st gear with low speed until the core bit ro-
tates in the material without vibrating. Then switch to 2nd or
3rd gear if necessary.
While drilling, adapt the feed pressure to the material being
drilled. Drill with uniform pressure. Lightly pull the core bit
out of the bore from time to time so that the drilling sludge is
removed from the core bit segments.
Bosch Power Tools
Overload Clutch
If a core bit jams or snags, the drive to the drill spindle will be
interrupted. In this case, switch the power tool off immediate-
ly to prevent wear and heat build-up.
Dislodge the core bit by turning it to the right and left using a
suitable open-end spanner. Carefully pull the power tool out
of the bore hole as you do so.
Overload Protection
If the overload threshold is exceeded, then the power tool will
begin to pulsate noticeably. Reduce the feed pressure until
the power tool works normally again.
If the feed pressure is not reduced, then the power tool will
switch off. You can then switch the power tool back on
straightaway, but you should continue to work with reduced
feed pressure.
Removing the Core
After drilling, continue to run the water for a short period in or-
der to flush out the drilling sludge between the core bit and
the core.
If the drilling core is stuck in the core bit, then apply light
blows onto the core bit with a piece of soft wood or plastic in
order to loosen the core. If required, pry the drilling core out
of the core bit using an appropriate hand tool (slotted screw-
driver or similar).
Note: Do not hammer or apply blows onto the core bit with
hard objects (danger of deformation)!

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
 For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
Clean the drilling spindle 10 after finishing work. Occasionally
spray an anti-corrosion agent onto the drilling spindle and the
core bit 9.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to
be done by Bosch or an authorized Bosch service agent in or-
der to avoid a safety hazard.
