2) For preventing damage of turf
a. Mowing is desirable in the afternoon or late
afternoon when the grass is dew-free, thus pre-
venting the mower from heavy clogging.
b. Always keep the mower deck clean.
c. Check the blade ends for damage.
d. Repeated mowing is recommended before the
grass grows too high.
e. Cutting grass too closely may kill the grass and
let weeds grow easily. To maintain a green lawn,
never mow more than one-third off height of the
grass in one mowing.
f.
A slower traveling speed will result in improved
mowing. Avoid selecting a traveling speed which
causes the tractor to bounce.
g. Short, fast turns will damage turf. Slow down
sufficiently when turning.
3) For mowing tall grass
a. Mow grass twice.
First, mow to prepare the grass height to make it
low enough for the next finishing pass. Then fin-
ish to a desired grass height.
Shift the second traveling pass sideways by
20cm (8 inch.) or so, or travel perpendicular to
the precedent passes, to expect a beautiful even
finish.
b. When trying to finish in one pass, select a suffi-
ciently slow traveling speed. It may also be
required to set the cutting which to be half or
one-third of that for normal operation.
4) For mowing highly moistened grass or on a wet
ground.
a. If turf damage by the tires is expected, wait until
the grass and land have dried sufficiently.
b. Wet grass requires a higher grass cutting height
setting than when mowing dry grass, for cutting
height is subject to become lower than expected
during operation.
CHAPTER 7. MOWER OPERATION
c. Select a sufficiently slow traveling speed and
avoid sudden starts, turns and acceleration. If not
the turf may be damaged.
5) For mowing low moisture content grass or when
there is much dead grass
a. Advance in a direction so that dust does not hit
the operator by taking into consideration the
direction of the wind.
b. When the air-intake screens are clogged, clean
them at once.
c. When operating the tractor in dusty circum-
stances, keep on playing attention to the coolant
temperature warning lamp.
Important:
Never proceed operating with clogged screens,
or engine breakdown may result.
