Troubleshooting schedule

Problem
Steps on the spot
Check bit.
Drilling is unusually
slow.
Check for metal
powder in waste water.
Bit is stuck.
Shut off drill.
Tube is abraded.

MAINTENANCE
Probable cause
Bit is worn out.
Bit is clogged with chips.
Diamond is rounded.
Drill is cutting reinforcing rods.
Stone or steel bar is caught between
core and bit.
Base wanders during drilling.
Clamp has too much free play.
The bit's outer diameter is the same as
the tube's.
Clamp has too much free play.
Bit, tube, or base are loose.
Bit is deformed.
Chips not discharging well.
Solution
Replace bit.
Clean bit with a wire brush and
increase water pressure.
Use a softer bond bit. Increase force on
handle.
Ease up the handle to avoid tripping
the circuit breaker.
Using a wrench, rotate the bit
clockwise to free it while backing out
the handle. (Rotating it
counterclockwise may unscrew the bit
from the tube.)
Reset the base and tighten securely.
Adjust clearance of clamp properly.
Replace bit.
Adjust clearance of clamp properly.
Tighten securely.
Replace bit.
Increase water pressure and volume.
