beta:
Describes a first version of software, distributed but not definitive.
Beamer:
A video projector.
boot:
Boot sequence of the computer. Everything that happens between the time you turn it on and the
time you can use it.
BPM:
Beats Per Minute (number of beats per minute). Tempo.
MIDI channel:
Each MIDI channel allow you to pass information to control a particular instrument: a MIDI plug
can simultaneously pass 16 channels, so control 16 instruments in the same time.
driver:
Small software specific to a device (or a device type), serving as a «bridge» between hardware
and software. A driver can therefore do recognize a device to exploit it.
firmware:
The firmware is the BIOS of a device (ex : a DVD burner firmware). This is a ROM, unlike
drivers who are software-only.
Hard Reboot:
Is to disconnect and reconnect the USB plug of the VMX V64.
Hardware:
The hardware is the computer equipment (whether internal or external to the computer), as op-
posed to software.
MIDI mapping:
MIDI mapping is to assign each buttons of the controller a function of the software (note, effect,
...) on which they will act.
MIDI:
Musical Instrument Digital Interface.
