Maintenance
The maximum lifetime of the escape hood is 12 years from the date of manufacture.
The escape hood must only be maintained by qualified trained personnel.
Replace filter and valve disk if
— the sealing plugs of the filter for the escape hood have been removed.
— the expiry date shown on the box has been exceeded.
— four years have passed.
For this purpose, use spare-part kit R 25 266 and replacement filter R 55 567.
Changing Filter (E, F, G, H, I, J)
• Remove the hood from its box. Pull open the loop (E1). Remove the pull cord from the
slits (E2) and pull it completely out of the hole (E3). Use both thumbs to push the filter
out of the mask and pull off the slide strips (F).
• Completely turn back the rubber sleeve of the filter mounting.
• Pull out the old filter (G).
• Filters are special waste: dispose of according to local regulations.
• Insert the new filter – the arrow on the filter must point towards the filter mounting (H).
Do not lubricate! The tab of the sealing plug points towards the viewing window.
• Fasten rubber sleeve evenly over the filter. Stick the slide strip around the rubber
sleeve again (I). The slide strip ensures that the filter can be easily pushed out for use.
• Loosen clamp slightly. Press rubber sleeve with filter back into the filter mounting (J).
Then tighten the screws of the clamp again.
Changing Valve Disk (K, L)
Soiled/damaged valve seats or deformed valve disks can cause leaks and put the
wearer of the hood at risk!
• Press the protective cap (K1) off with the thumb. Take hold of the edge of the valve
disk (K2) and pull out. Check the seat (L3) for dirt and damage. Wipe clean with a lint-
free cloth. Have damaged seats replaced by Dräger.
• Place new valve disk on an even surface. The disk should lie flat and evenly.
• Press the tested valve disk onto the valve seat until it locks. The disk should lie flat and
evenly.
• Press protective cap back on until it locks.
Packing the Device (M, N, O)
This applies to all escape hoods
• Pull draw-strap wide until it stops (M).
• Tie the ends of the pull cords to the tabs of the sealing plugs. The short cord is for the
outer plug, the long cord for the inner plug.
• Push the pull cord through the hole (N1). Tie it in the slits on both sides (N2) and
tighten it (N3).
