Briefly press the select button (10) or (12) to return to the
default display screen.
Note: Only the display is changed, not the measuring mode!
Settings menu
To open the Settings menu, press the setup button (14).
To exit the menu, press the start button (11). The settings
that are currently selected are applied. The default display
screen for the measuring process is activated.
Navigating in the menu
To scroll down, press the setup button (14).
Press the select buttons (10) and (12) to select the values:
– Pressing the select button (10) selects the right-hand/
next value.
– Pressing the select button (12) selects the left-hand/pre-
vious value.
<Language>
In the <Language> menu, you can change the language of
the menu navigation. The default setting is <English>.
<Cut-off time>
In the <Cut-off time> menu, you can set the time before the
measuring tool switches off automatically when no measure-
ment is taken and no settings are adjusted. The default set-
ting is <5 min>.
<Display illum.>
In the <Display illum.> menu, you can set the time for which
the display (16) remains illuminated. The default setting is
<30 sec>.
<Brightness>
In the <Brightness> menu, you can set the brightness of the
display. The default setting is <Max>.
<Tone signal>
In the <Tone signal> menu, you can set when the measuring
tool should emit an audio signal, providing you have not
switched off the signal by pressing the audio signal but-
ton (13).
– The default setting is <Wallobjects>: An audio signal
sounds every time a button is pressed and whenever an
object is located in the wall within the sensor range. In ad-
dition, a short repeated warning signal is given for live
wires.
– With the <Live wire> setting, an audio signal sounds
every time a button is pressed and the warning signal is
given for live cables (short, repeated) whenever the
measuring tool displays a power cable.
– With the <Keyclick> setting, an audio signal only sounds
when a button is pressed.
<Defaultmode>
In the <Defaultmode> menu, you can set the operating
mode that will be selected by default when the measuring
tool is switched on. The default setting is <Concrete Univer-
sal>.

Advanced settings menu

To open the Advanced settings menu, press the setup but-
ton (14) and the on/off button (15) simultaneously while the
measuring tool is switched off.
To exit the menu, press the start button (11). The default
display screen for the measuring process is activated and
the settings are applied.

– Pressing the select button (12) selects the left-hand/pre-

<Device Info>
The <Device Info> menu contains information about the
measuring tool, e.g. the <Operation Time>.
In the <Restore Settings> menu, you can restore the fact-
ory settings.
Examples of measuring results
Note: In the following examples, the audio signal on the
measuring tool is switched on.
Depending on the size and depth of the object located within
the sensor range, it may not be possible to determine with
complete certainty whether the object is live. If this is the

case, the symbol
appears on the display (n).
Live cable (see figure C)
A live, metal object, e.g. an electrical cable, is located within
the sensor range. The object depth is 1.5 cm. The measuring
tool emits the warning signal for live cables as soon as the
sensor detects an electrical cable.
Iron rod (see figure D)
A magnetic object, e.g. an iron rod, is located within the
sensor range. Other objects that are outside the sensor
range are located to the left and right of the object. The ob-
ject depth is 5.5 cm. The measuring tool emits an audio sig-
nal.
Copper pipe (see figure E)
A metal object, e.g. a copper pipe, is located within the
sensor range. The object depth is 4 cm. The measuring tool
emits an audio signal.
Plastic or wooden object (see figure F)
A non-metal object is located within the sensor range. The
object is plastic or wooden and is located close to the sur-
face. The measuring tool emits an audio signal.
Large flat object (see figure G)
A large, flat metal object, e.g. a metal plate, is located within
the sensor range. The object depth is 2 cm. The measuring
tool emits an audio signal.
