2. Important safety instructions

CAUTION - To prevent personal injury and/or product/property damage:
• Never leave a child unattended while on the scale, even for a moment.
• Ensure the baby lies down in the tray with minimal movement. Excessive movement could result
in a fall, potentially causing serious injury.
• Ensure the equipment is placed on a flat, level and stable surface. Ensure that there is no risk
of the equipment tipping over.
• Keep scale away from moisture, dust, chemicals, toiletries, liquid cosmetics, extreme hot and
cold temperatures, and sources of heat (e.g., open flame, radiators).
• Prevent impact with hard objects.
• Do not place any object on the scale when it is not in use.
• Strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. cell phones) may impair the accuracy of the scale.
• The scale is not intended to be used for commercial purposes.
• Repairs may only be performed by an authorized service center. Contact Customer Service at
1-800-536-0366 or info@beurer.com with any questions regarding operation, usage, or repair
of this product.

3. Battery Handling Safety Precautions

• Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
• Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries. Reversed batteries may cause dam-
age to the device.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc carbon or rechargeable bat-
teries) or old batteries with fresh ones. Always replace batteries as a simultaneous set.
• If the batteries in the device are depleted or the device will not be used for a long period of time, remove
the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
• Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (follow bat-
tery manufacturer's directions.)
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may explode or leak.
• Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
• Remove discharged batteries from the product and dispose/recycle in compliance with all applicable laws.
• Keep batteries away from children and pets. Batteries may be harmful if swallowed. Should a child or pet
swallow a battery, seek medical assistance immediately.

4. Before First Use

Remove the Battery Compartment Cover located underneath the scale and insert two "AA" (LR06) size alkaline
batteries (included) according to the polarity markings inside the compartment. Replace Battery Compartment
Cover. When "Lo" appears in the LCD Display, the batteries need to be replaced.
