4.4
Maintaining a constant speed
The pre-set spindle speed is kept constant elec-
tronically. This means that a constant polishing
speed is also achieved even when the machine is
under load.
4.5
Overload protection
The overload protection interrupts the power sup-
ply before the current consumption exceeds the
permissible value when the machine is extremely
overloaded.
The machine is immediately ready for operation
once it has been switched off.
4.6
Temperature protection
The temperature protection reduces the machine's
current consumption before a too high tempera-
ture is reached when the machine is overloaded.
Thereafter the machine may only be operated at
idling speed. This allows the machine to be cooled
down quickly by the motor fan. The machine must be
switched off briefl y after it has cooled down before
it is ready for operation once more.
5
Tools
Use only tools which are approved for the
machine's maximum speed (2,400 rpm).
For your own safety, use only original Festool
tools.
5.1
Fitting the polishing pad
The polishing pads (1.4) are equipped with an M14
thread, and are screwed directly into the spindle
(1.5). The motor spindle can be locked by pressing
the spindle stop (1.6)
Actuate the spindle stop only when the drive
spindle is stationary. Do not switch on the
motor when the spindle stop is pressed in.
5.2
Attaching the polishing materials
The polishing materials (felt, sponge, sheepskin)
are simply pressed onto the polishing pad (1.4) and
held in place by the adhesive coating on the polish-
ing pad.
6
Operating notes
Do not overload the machine by pressing on it too
hard.
The best polishing results are achieved by working
with a moderate contact pressure.
The additional handle (1.3) can be optionally fi tted
on the right or left of the rotary polisher's transmis-
sion head.
7
Maintenance and care
Always remove the power supply plug
from the socket before carry-ing out any
work on the machine.
The cool air openings in the motor casing must
always be kept clean and unobstructed to ensure
air circulation.
All maintenance and repair work which requires the
motor casing to be opened may only be carried out
by an authorised service centre.
8
Accessories
Use only original Festool accessories and Festool
consumable material designed for this machine
because these system components are designed
specifi cally for the machine. Using accessories and
consumable material from other suppliers will most
likely affect the quality of your working results and
limit any warranty claims. Machine wear or your
own personal workload may increase depending on
the application. Protect yourself and your machine,
and preserve your warranty claims by always using
original Festool accessories and Festool consum-
able material!
The order numbers of the accessories and tools can
be found in the Festool catalogue or on the Internet
under "www.festool.com".
9
Disposal
Do not throw the power tool in your household waste!
Dispose of the machine, accessories and packaging
at an environmentally-responsible recycling centre!
Observe the valid national regulations.
EU only: European Directive 2002/96/EC stipulate that
used electric power tools must be collected separately
and disposed of at an environmentally responsible
recycling centre.
10
Warranty
For our tools, we give warranty for material and pro-
duction defects in accordance with the locally appli-
cable legal provisions, but in any case for at least 12
months. Within the EU member states, the warranty
period is 24 months (verifi cation through invoice
or delivery note). Damage caused by, in particular,
natural wear, overloading, incorrect handling, or
damage caused by the operator, or damage caused
through use of the equipment contrary that specifi ed
in the Operating Instructions, or damage which was
known at the time of purchase, is not covered by the
warranty. Furthermore, damage caused by the use
of non-original Festool accessories and consum-
able material (e.g. sanding pads) is also excluded.
Complaints can only be recognised if the tool is
returned while still assembled to the supplier or
an authorised Festool Customer Service workshop.
Keep the Operating Instructions, Safety Instructions,
Spare Parts List and purchase receipt in a safe
place. Otherwise the respective, current warranty
conditions of the manufacturer shall apply.
Note: Due to continuous research and development
work, we reserve the right to make changes to the
technical content of this documentation.
