RhB Crocodile Electric
Loco, Brown
THE PROTOTYPE
When a number of Rhätische
Bahn (RhB) lines switched from
steam to electric traction in the
1920s,
the
powerful new electric locomoti-
ves. Between 1921 and 1929,
fourteen of the famous Ge 6/6
"Crocodiles" were built.
The distinctive front and rear
hoods house two electric motors.
Power is transmitted from the dri-
veshafts to the wheels through
siderods. With a sustained power
rating of 1076 hp and a top speed
of 55 kph (45 mph), the articula-
ted RhB Crocodiles set a stan-
dard for narrow gauge electric
locomotives that remained unsur-
passed for many years. Several of
these classic locomotives remain
in service and can be enjoyed in
front of special trains.

OPERATION
Operating Modes
This model can be operated with
track power or with power from an
LGB catenary system. There are
two power control switches loca-
ted inside one cab (Fig. 1). Use
the upper switch to select track or
catenary power:
Position U: track power (factory
pre-set)
Position O: catenary power
Use the lower switch to control
parking and lighting options:
Position 0: loco parked with all
power off
Position 1: loco parked with lights
on
Position 2: motors and lights on
Position 3: same as 2 (factory
pre-set)
CAUTION! If this model is equip-
ped with a Multi-Train System
decoder, it must not be operated
with catenary power. Operate
decoder-equipped
track power only.
Catenary Operation
Connect the red terminal of the
power supply to the „Standard"
Catenary Mast with Wire (56401)
or the connection screw on any
„Model" catenary mast. Connect
the blue terminal of the power
supply to the uninterrupted „com-
mon" rail of the track.
The bottom of this loco is marked
with a red dot (Fig. 2). Place the
loco on the track with the red dot
pointing to the rail that is not
connected to the catenary power
supply.
When the power control switch is
set for catenary power, the cur-
rent flows from the power supply
via the catenary wire to the motor
of the model (Fig. 3). It returns via
the common rail to the power sup-
ply.
When the power control switch is
set for track power, the current
flows via the rail to the motor and
returns to the power supply via
the common rail.
Multi-Train System
This model has two „D" gearbo-
xes and a decoder interface. It
can be equipped with an LGB
Multi-Train
(55020) and a Motor Power Boo-
ster (55030) using a Decoder
Interface Cable (55026).
