Operation
This section describes how to start using your MPK Road 88 with your computer and with external
MIDI equipment.
In Your DAW
To set up MPK Road 88 with your DAW:
1.
Power on your MPK Road 88, and open your DAW in your computer.
2.
Make sure MPK Road 88 is selected as a controller in your DAW—you can usually do this in
your DAW's Preferences, Device Setup, or Options.
3.
In your DAW, create a new MIDI track (i.e., not an audio track).
4.
Play keys on the keyboard to start sending MIDI note data.
With External MIDI Equipment (Without a Computer)
To set up MPK Road 88 with external MIDI equipment:
1.
Power on your MPK Road 88 and your external MIDI device.
2.
Connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI output of MPK Road 88 to the MIDI input of your external
MIDI device (such as a sound module).
3.

Transposing the Keyboard
Note: Transposing the keybed will also move the set Split point, if activated.
To set the transpose value:
Press and hold the Transpose button while pressing a key on the keyboard (A0-C8). Pressing middle
C (C4) will set a zero transpose.
Splitting the Keyboard
The Split feature divides the keyboard into 2 sections. Press any of the 2 Setup buttons to activate
the corresponding keyboard section.
Note: When the Split button is OFF, Setup A and Setup B will play the entire range of the keyboard.
To set a Split point:
Press and hold the Split A/B/Set button while pressing a key on the keyboard (for example, press
C4). In this example, keys from A0 to C4 (to the left of the split point, inclusive of the split key) will
play when Setup A is activated. Keys from C#4 to C8 (to the right of the split point, exclusive of the
split key) will play when Setup B is activated. When Split is on, both Setup A and Setup B buttons
will illuminate. Other control destinations will be determined by the individual setup's configuration.
Resetting the Keyboard
To reset the keyboard to factory default settings:
Power on the unit while holding down the Setup A, Setup B, and Transpose buttons.
