The Bar Hangers are adjustable for use in installations
with spacing from 10" to 24" . They can be used with
joist installations of wood, engineered lumber, steel stud
construction and with grid ceilings having T-bars. Bar
Hangers are of an interlocking design and allow
positioning of housing platform along the entire length
of the bars, and are also captive after installation.
When platforms are used in sloped ceiling applications,
the junction box must be located on the downward side
of the slope. (Figure 4).

Joist Installation (Figure 5)
Use the bar hangers for joist installation.
Step 1
Extend bar hangers to fit between joist and position
mounting tab locator lip tight to bottom of joist or
framing member. Bar hangers should be level with
bottom of joist or framing member.
Step 2
Attach bar hangers to joist or framing member using
hardware appropriate for material type.
Step 3
Adjust housing platform position by sliding on bar
hangers to desired position. Housing may be locked
into position by tightening bar hanger locking screws on
housing platform.
Grid Ceiling Installation (Figure 6)
Step 1
Extend bar hangers between the T-bars and slide the
slots in the mounting tabs over the T-bars. Optional
fasteners can be used for attaching the bar hangers to
the T-bar.
Step 2
Adjust housing platform position by sliding on bar
hangers to desired position. Housing may be locked
into position by tightening bar hanger locking screws on
housing platform. (Figure 4)

Overspray Protector
The housing platform is shipped with a cardboard
overspray protector installed in the aperture. To prevent
paint and dust from entering the housing platform, do
not remove the overspray protector until trim out.
