10. Summary of faults

Faults
Motor does not start.
Fuses blow or motor
protection switch
releases immediately
Warning:
Do not switch on again!
Pump runs, but motor
protection switch
operates after short time
Pump runs
with reduced output
and power consumption
too low
Pump runs
but does not deliver
Pump switches on
and off continuously
Disconnect pump from power supply (withdraw power plug
or switch off safety switch) every time before performing
maintenance and ensure against re-connection.
Possible cause
No power supply, short-circuit,
fault current in cable
or motor winding
Fuse blown, since wrong type
Impeller blocked by dirt
Float switch moved or defective
Starting relay does not comply
with details on nameplate
Increased power consumption owing
to wider voltage fluctuations
Impeller blocked by dirt.
Current increased in all three phases
Pressure line bent
Impeller blocked by dirt
Impeller worn and gap
between impeller
and casing enlarged
Incorrect direction of rotation
(only on three-phase version)
Slide valve in pressure line blocked
or choked
Non-return valve blocked
Air in pump casing
Position of float switch altered
or it is defective
Remedy
Get cable and motor checked
and repaired by an electrician
Replace with correct fuse
Clean impeller
Check float switch and replace
if necessary
Exchange starting relay according
to details on pump nameplate
Measure voltage between two phases.
Tolerance ±10%
Clean impeller
Lay pressure line without bending
Clean impeller
Reduce gap using
adjusting screw
or renew wearing parts
Check direction of rotation
and interchange two phases if necessary
