1. Safety instructions

1.1 General

These installation and operating instructions contain
basic information, which must be observed during
installation, operation and maintenance. They must
therefore be read without fail by the fitter, as well as
the responsible technical personnel/operator before
installation and commissioning. They must always
be available for reference at the place of installation.
Not only the general safety information contained
in these «Safety instructions» must be observed,
but also the special safety instructions included
in the other sections.

1.2 Identification of warning signs

The safety information contained
in these installation and operating
instructions, which if not observed
can result in danger to life are specially
denoted with the general warning sign
«Safety sign to DIN 4844-W9».
This symbol is a warning of dangerous
electrical voltage.

This warning sign is provided

to the machine and its functions.
Information provided directly on the installation, e.g.:
– Arrow for direction of rotation
– Indications of liquid connections
must be observed without fail and be kept
in a clearly legible condition.

1.3 Personal qualification and training

Personnel assigned to installation, operation,
maintenance and inspection must have the appropriate
qualifications for this work. The range of responsibility,
competence and supervision of personnel must be
exactly defined by the operator.
1.4 Dangers from non-observance
of safety instructions
Non-observance of safety instructions can result
in danger to life as well as to the environment and
installation. Non-compliance with safety instructions
can result in loss of all claims to compensation.
In particular the following dangers can arise
for example:
– Failure of important system functions.
– Failure of prescribed methods of maintenance
and servicing.
– Danger to personnel from electrical
and mechanical influences.

1.5 Safety-conscious working

The safety information contained in these installation
and operating instructions, the existing national
accident prevention regulations and any internal
working, operating and safety regulations of the
operator must be observed.
It must be ensured before starting work
on any part of the equipment that all
electrical components of the system
on which work is to be performed are
disconnected from the power supply.

1.6 Safety instructions for the operator/user

Dangers from electrical energy must be excluded
(for relevant details refer for example to the regulations
in NIN(CENELEC) and the local power supply
companies).
1.7 Safety instructions for installation,
maintenance and inspection
The operator must ensure that all installation,
maintenance and inspection work is performed
by authorized and qualified technical personnel,
who are sufficiently informed by a thorough study
of the installation and operating instructions.
Work on the system should in principle only be
performed while at standstill.
The function of all safety and protective devices must
be restored immediately after completion of the work.
The conditions listed in «Electrical connection»
must be observed before returning to service.
1.8 Unauthorised conversion

and production of spare-parts

Conversions or modifications to pumps are only
permitted following consultation with the manufacturer.
Original spare-parts and accessories authorized
by the manufacturer ensure safety. The use of
other components can cancel the liability for
the consequences.
1.9 Improper modes of operation
The operating reliability of the pumps supplied
is only guaranteed when used for the intended purpose
according to the section «Purpose of use» in the
installation and operating instructions. The limit values
specified in «Application limits» and «Technical data»
must on no account be exceeded.
