3.4 Purpose of use

The waste water pumps with jacket cooling can be
used in portable form or stationary. Circulation around
the motor with the medium delivered ensures adequate
cooling and protects the motor from overheating,
even with extremely low water level (slurp operation).
Dry running is not permitted however. They are suitable
for irrigation and drainage functions with clean
or dirty water, also with abrasive sand and sludge
contamination (see «Technical data» for maximum ball
passage.)
Possible fields of application:
– Cellar drainage
– Lowering of groundwater level
– Keeping building sites dry
– Drainage of subways and underpasses
– Pumping out shafts, containers, basins
– Supply of service water
– High-water protection
– Emergency application for overflows and flooding
When using the pumps for cleaning
or maintenance in swimming pools
or similar applications, it must be
ensured that nobody is in the medium
pumped and that the pumps are fitted
with a fault current protective device
(FI-switch) with a measured fault
current not exceeding 30 mA
(personal protection).

3.5 Limits of application

The pumping of explosive media
Warning
or application in environments subject
to explosion (ATEX) is explicitly
forbidden.
– Maximum delivery medium temperature:
35 °C, short-term 60 °C
– pH values
– for cast aluminium version: 6 – 8
– for cast iron version: 6 – 11
– for fine steel version: 2 – 11

– If there are chemically aggressive components
in the pumped medium, the resistance of the pump
materials used must be noted.

– Maximum medium density: 1.1 kg/dm
– The suspended material in the pumped medium
must not be larger than the maximum ball passage
value for the pump (see «Technical data»)
– The minimum level of the medium must always
be above the upper edge of the pump casing
(see «Dimensions» – dimension «D»)
– Maximum 15 starts per hour
– No dry running (overheating danger)

account be exceeded.

Warning
The following points apply above all to permanently
installed pumps:
– When used in shaft operation the shaft opening
should be provided with a non-slip or stable cover
after installing the pumps.
– The switchgear installed outside the shaft must be
protected against the influence of weather.
- Consequential damage, e.g. by flooding of rooms
following pump faults, must be excluded
by the operator with suitable measures
(e.g. installation of alarm system, etc.).
– Shut-off valves should be provided in the forward
flow and pressure line to simplify working steps
in the event of possible disassembly.

4.1 Installation versions

Warning

4.1.1 Floor installation

– Fit pressure line on the central pressure connection
at the top. The pressure line must be fitted without
stress. If a hose is used, laying must be made
without kinks. The pressure line must be selected
for the dimension to match the pressure connector.
– Place pumps in delivery medium. When used on
a muddy, yielding surface, stones or similar material

should be placed under the pump or the pump
placed in a close mesh basket to protect the suction
screen from blockage and to prevent sinkage
of the pump.
Assembly/installation instructions
All impacts, friction and applications
of force must be avoided during
installation!
The conductors (cables) must never
be pulled, bent or otherwise distorted.
The smallest permitted bending radius
must be at least 5-times the cable
diameter. The free cable ends should
be protected against infiltration
of water and moisture.
All safety measures specified
in the standards applicable must be
observed.
When raising and lowering the pump,
nobody must be present in the shaft.
The pump should always be raised
and lowered with the chain, pressure
line or steel cable.
Never use the electrical cable
for this purpose.
