volume. Intensity: maximum muscular contrac-
tion at pain threshold limit.
A muscle warm-up programme should be car-
ried out before performing any of the following
programmes: Firming, Toning, Sculpting and
Mass Development.
HEALTH
Uses mechanisms of the nervous system to alle-
viate both acute and chronic pain. Impulses tra-
vel along the nerves to block the pain propaga-
tion paths. This analgesic effect occurs during
programme execution and can last for a few
hours. However, its duration may vary. The TENS
programmes also improves circulation. Place the
electrodes on the painful area. These program-
mes can be used in any situation requiring pain
relief. Caution! TENS programmes alleviate the
pain but do not eliminate the cause. If the pain
persists, seek medical advice.
TENS (Analgetic-Endorphinic):Allows pain relief
and effective muscle relaxation. TENS program-
mes use mechanisms of the nervous system to
alleviate both acute and chronic pain. Impulses
travel along the nerves to block the pain propa-
gation paths. Muscular relaxation improves
blood circulation. It can be used in any situation
requiring both pain relief and muscle relaxation.
Caution! TENS programmes alleviate the pain
but do not eliminate the cause. If the pain per-
sists, seek medical advice.
Intensity: ANALGETIC TENS: tingling but not pain-
ful sensation. Should not induce muscular con-
tractions. ENDORPHINIC TENS: visible muscular
vibrations.
TENS (Cervical pains, Backache, Periarthritis,
Epicondylitis, Sciatic neuralgia): Uses mecha-
nisms of the nervous system to alleviate both
acute and chronic pain. Impulses travel along
the nerves to block the pain propagation paths.
This programme combines stimulation with light
contractions that stimulate the release of endor-
phins. Caution! TENS programmes alleviate the
pain but do not eliminate the cause. If the pain
persists, seek medical advice. Intensity: tingling
but not painful sensation.
HEMATOMA: Increases the absorption of the
muscular hematomas due, for example, to con-
tusions. Improves blood circulation in the area.
This programme should not be used earlier than
72 hours after the muscular trauma. Always seek
medical advice if further instructions are requi-
red. Intensity: intermediate to high.
REHAB
ATROPHY RECOVERY: Resumption of physical
activity after a period of interruption. After a
trauma or other interruptions of physical activity,
muscles may lose their tone and mass. In these
cases, normal muscular capacity must be regai-
ned as soon as possible. The Atrophy Recovery
programme enables training of specific muscles
concerned.
It can be used in any situation requiring activity
resumption. Intensity: low to intermediate.
RE-MUSCULATION: Increases the diameter and
capacity of muscle fibres.
This programme is recommended after using the
Atrophy programme for a period, as soon as the
muscle shows a slight recovery of volume and
tone. Intensity: Intermediate.
MOBILIZATION: The stimulation is aimed at neuro-
muscular facilitation, which especially improves
the mobilization of the injured articulation.
Prepares the limb to resume its normal functiona-
lity. It is recommended to use this programme
after the recovery of muscular trophism. Intensity:
intermediate.
HEMIPLEGIA - PARAPLEGIA: If the patient suffers
from a perception problem with decreased
attention (semi-inattention), integrating the
treatment with training of this ability may be
extremely useful. The treatment must not be
merely passive, but the patient can take on an
active role in the training. The programme can
