ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR SAWS
•
Replace table insert when worn.
•
When changing the saw blade beware that the width of the groove cut of the
saw blades shall not be less than and the thickness of the body of the saw
blade shall not be more than the thickness of the riving knife.
•
Keep hands out of path of saw blade.
•
Do not operate saw without guards in place.
•
Do not perform any operation freehand.
•
Never reach around saw blade
•
Turn off tool and wait for saw blade to stop before moving workpiece or
changing settings.
•
Disconnect power (or unplug tool as applicable) before changing blade
or servicing.
•
Ensure that the riving knife is adjusted to the correct distance from the
blade - 1/8" to 3/16" (3-5 mm). Use only the original riving knife.
•
Take care that the selection of the saw blade is suitable for the material to
be cut; Wear suitable personal protective equipment when necessary. This
could include hearing protection to reduce the risk of induced hearing loss
and respiratory protection to reduce the risk of inhalation of harmful dust.
•
Wear gloves when handling saw blades and rough material. Saw blades
shall be carried in a holder whenever practicable.
•
Do not use high speed steel (HSS) blades.
•
The push-stick or push block should always be stored with the saw when
not in use.
•
Use only saw blades for which the maximum possible speed is not less than
the maximum spindle speed of the tool and the material to be cut.
•
When transporting the saw, use only transportation devices and do never
use guards for handling or transportation.
•
During transportation the upper part of the saw blade should be covered;
for example by the guard.
•
If you need to use an extension cable, make sure its conductor cross-section is
large enough for the saw's power consumption. Minimum cross-section: 18AWG.
•
After you have switched off the motor, never slow down the saw blade by
applying pressure to its side.
•
Fit only blades that are well sharpened and have no cracks or deformations.
•
Faulty saw blades have to be replaced immediately.
•
If you are interrupted when operating the saw, complete the process and
switch off before looking.
•
Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are properly tightened.
•
Always ensure that your work is on the table. Never use the tool to cut
pieces that are not on the table.
•
Do not place your hands in awkward positions where one or both may slip
suddenly and touch the saw blade.
•
When working with a long workpiece, use an additional support such as a
saw table to prevent the blade from grabbing the work.
•
When cutting round wood, use clamps that prevent the workpiece from
turning on the table.
•
There must be no nails or other foreign bodies in that part of the workpiece
you want to cut.
•
Never load the saw so much that it slows down and over-heats.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR SAWS
•
Never saw several workpieces simultaneously.
•
Never remove loose splinters, chips or jammed pieces of wood when the
saw blade is running.
•
To rectify faults or remove jammed pieces of wood, always switch off the
saw first and unplug from power point!
•
Adjustments, measurements and cleaning jobs are to be performed only
when the motor is switched off and the mains plug removed!
•
All guards and safety devices have to be refitted immediately after
completion of any repairs or maintenance.
•
The saw may be used in a closed room only in conjunction with a suitable
vacuum extraction system.
•
This saw must be connected to a 120-60Hz socket-outlet with a minimum
10-Amp circuit.
•
Unless otherwise stated in these instructions, damaged safety devices and
parts must be repaired or replaced by an authorized service facility.
•
Have damaged switches replaced by an authorized service facility.
•
This tool complies with the pertinent safety regulations. Repairs are to be
carried out only by qualified electricians at authorized service centres, using
original replacement parts. The user may suffer an accident if this condition
is not observed.
•
Rebating or grooving should not be carried out unless suitable guarding,
such as a tunnel guard, is fitted above the table saw.
•
Saws shall not be used for slotting (stopped groove).
WARNINGS
•
Use the push stick when required. Always use a push stick or a push
block for ripping narrow stock. Refer to ripping applications in this
Instruction Manual where use of the push stick is covered in detail.
•
Always use the saw blade guard and riving knife for every operation,
including through sawing. Through sawing operations are those in
which the blade cuts completely through the work piece when ripping
or crosscutting.
•
Always hold the work firmly against the mitre gauge or rip fence.
•
Never perform any operation "free hand". Always use either the mitre
gauge or the rip fence to position and guide the work.
•
Never stand or have any parts of your body in line with the path of the
saw blade.
•
Keep your hands out of the line of the saw blade.
•
Move the rip fence out of the way when cross cutting.
•
Feed the work into the blade AGAINST the direction of rotation only.
•
Never use the fence as a cut-off gauge when crosscutting.
•
Make sure the max cutting depth setting is correct according to
workpiece thickness all the time
•
Make sure anti kickback device is released when doing rip cutting
•
Make sure anti kickback device is locked (disabled) when doing cross cutting
•
Never reach around or over sawblade.
•
Return carriage to the full rear position after each cross-cut operation.
•
Turn off tool and wait for saw blade to stop before moving workpiece or
changing settings.
