Functionalities
The phases of the moon are dis-
D
played using a retrograde hand
at the '6 o'clock position'. If the
moon is completely black, then
it is new moon. This is followed
by the waxing moon up to the
first quarter, with the right-hand
side of the moon visible. After
that, the full moon is displayed,
followed by the waning moon up
to the last quarter, with the left-
hand side of the moon visible.
The lunar cycle ends at the new
moon, after which the retrograde
hand springs back 'in a split
second' to the starting position
and the cycle begins again.
