The Maison works to raise customer
awareness, and is strongly committed to
ensuring the jewellery and watch industry
improves both impact and transparency in
its supply chains.
Ethical Gold
Gold is the raw material most widely used
in Chopard's production. The Maison has
devoted particular attention to ensuring
that one of the biggest milestones in its
quest for sustainability would be the sourc-
ing of responsibly mined gold for its entire
watch and jewellery production. This objec-
tive was met in July 2018 when Chopard
began using 100% Ethically produced gold
– verified as having met international best
practice environmental and social stand-
ards – in its workshops. More specifically,
Chopard's ethical gold is sourced through
two transparent and traceable schemes:
– Artisanal freshly mined gold produced
in a responsible manner
– Chain of Custody Gold from RJC-Certified
refineries
Lucent Steel™
Lucent Steel™ is a metal like no other.
REACH-certified and made with 80% recy-
cled steel – due to rise to 90% in 2025
– this unique and precious metal is the
product of four years of tireless research.
Special care was taken in order to ensure
that the material used to craft Chopard
timepieces is not only beautiful, but also
performs to our exacting standards, and
sourced exclusively from local, European
suppliers. Uniquely durable, Lucent
Steel™ is harder than other steels. It is
also antiallergenic, making it comparable in
quality to surgical steel. But all this func-
tion would be nothing without form. Lucent
Steel™ is perhaps most prized for its sig-
nature lucent quality that gives the metal an
ethereal incandescence.
