ASSEMBLY

3.1

PRE - OPERATIONS

Before beginning the assembly, it must be made clear, in one's own interest, which are the constructional
conditions and conditions relating to the space available for the assembly, as well as where (workshop or the
location where the elevator is assembled) and when such activity can or must be carried out. It is therefore
advisable, considering all the given circumstances, to think over the various procedures before any activity is
inconsiderately or hastily undertaken.
On delivery of the goods, it is necessary to check the parts, resp. the components, by comparing them with the
order, in order to verify their conformity and completeness.
The data contained in the type-plate of the safety gear head has to be compared to the order, by:
• conformity to the serial number and order number;
• width and type on the guide rails;,
• maximum load;
• tripping speed.
3.2
TYPE-PLATE, EC - CERTIFICATION MARK,
IDENTIFICATION
The type-identification consists of a plate of the
product, showing serial number and year of manufacture.

ASSEMBLY OF THE SAFETY GEAR BLOCKS TYPES SP50-SP50B-SP60-BP1-BP1S-BP2-BP3-BP3S-BP100
4.1

ASSEMBLY OF THE ROLLER INSTANTANEOUS SAFETY GEAR BLOCKS (BP1-BP1S-BP2-BP3-BP3S-BP100)

(see fig. 6-7-8)
Fasten the safety gear (1) to the framework of the elevator car (or of the counterweight) and to an eventual
support (2) for BP1-BP1S-BP2-BP3-BP3S with 4 screws M12 (class 8.8) (3) and for BP100 with 8 screws M16
(class 8.8) (3) of suitable length together with spring washers, by inserting them into the holes of the safety
gear and check the correct clamping. Then verify the free sliding of the roller in both directions. The linkage
(4), to be found in the front of the safety gear head, it has to be connected to the roller pin (5), by placing it
between the cover plate (6) and the plain washer (7) [washer not used on BP100]. In this way, it will not come
out from the pin due to the split pin (8). Check the correct positioning of the roller to the faying surface of the
guide. Positioning and fastening of the safety gear block should take place in such a way to allow a minimum
play (in inoperative position) between the safety gear head (opposite side to the roller) and the sliding surface
of the guide, in order to allow the normal movement of the elevator car/counterweight.
4.2

ASSEMBLY OF TWO ROLLER INSTANTANEOUS SAFETY GEAR BLOCKS (SP50-SP50B-SP60)

(see fig. 1-2-3-4-5)
Fasten the safety gear (1) to the framework of the elevator car (or of the counterweight) and to an eventual
support (2) with four M12 screws (class 8.8) (3) of suitable length together with spring washers, by inserting
them into the holes of the safety gear and check the correct clamping. Then verify the free sliding of the rollers
in both directions. The linkage (4), which is found in the center of the safety gear head, is inserted between a
set of rollers (5) on the other side where the clamping takes place. Check the correct position of the rollers to
the faying surface of the guide. Positioning and fastening of the safety gear block should take place in such a
way to allow a minimum play (in inoperative position) between the safety gear head and the sliding surface of
the guide, in order to allow the normal movement of the elevator car/counterweight.
It is very important that the roller (or the rollers) of the safety gear block is never hampered during the whole
sliding phase from the linkage, that operates the same roller. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary, that the
fastening to the elevator car/counterweight and the operation system of the safety gear blocks, allow the
simultaneous intervention of the braking device set.
It is therefore important to check, after the assembly, the correct clamping of the split pin that blocks the
operation linkage and that the roller of each of the two blocks moves freely and simultaneously to the other.
