WARNING: Failure to follow this procedure exactly could cause immediate failure of
the new air door actuator. Please read each step carefully before starting.
CALIBRATION
With a scan tool that can calibrate the HVAC control module on applicable vehicles:
1. With ignition off, replace faulty air door actuator. Make sure HVAC remains off before
installation of new actuator.
2. Connect a scan tool to OBD-II port.
3. Turn vehicle to key on, engine off.
On the scan tool, follow prompts for recalibrating all HVAC control modules. Do not adjust

the climate controls until calibration is complete.
5. Wait 60 seconds. Calibration should now be complete. To verify, check that air is coming
out of selected vents.
Without a scan tool:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. This is critical to start the relearn process.
Turn vehicle to key on, engine off and wait 5 minutes.

3. Turn key to off position.
4. Replace faulty air door actuator.
5. Reconnect negative battery cable.
6. Turn vehicle to key on, engine off. Do not adjust any settings in the vehicle for five minutes
so that the vehicle can perform the calibration procedure properly.
7. Calibration should now be complete. If performed correctly, you should hear air door
actuators cycle, and air should come out of selected vents.
8. If calibration procedure does not happen after Step 6, there may be another failure in the
system. Contact an HVAC service professional to further diagnose the issue.
