Possible cause

Shavings do not feed up from
the drill hole.
Blunt drill.
Feeding too slow.
Hard fibers/knots in the wood,

edge lengths or angles).
The drill is deformed (bent).
The drill hole clamps round the
drill, or the feeding is too fast.
Incorrect belt tension.
The drill is bent.
Spindle bearings heavily worn.
Drill is not properly fitted in
the chuck.

Sharpen the drill.
Feed faster.
Sharpen the drill.
Replace drill.
Reduce the deformation of the
workpiece by using a suitable
underlay, or clamping the
workpiece properly.
See instructions for positioning
the workpiece.
Adjust the belt tension. See
instructions for adjusting the
spindle speed.
Replace with straight drill.
Replace spindle bearings.
Remove the drill from the chuck,
then replace properly centred.
See section Inserting tool in the
chuck.
Fit the chuck correctly. See
instructions for fitting the chuck.
