start the machine. Press the red power switch
button 0 (4) to switch off the machine.
PUTTING TOOLS IN THE CHUCK
Always unplug the plug out from the power
point before putting in or removing tools from
the chuck.
The chuck (15) is intended for tools with a
cylindrical shank, with a diameter within the
specified chuck diameter. Never use blunt,
warped, deformed or otherwise damaged
tools. Never use tools with a deformed or
otherwise damaged shaft. Only use the
accessories and attachments specified in the
instructions.
REPLACING THE CHUCK
Turn the chuck sleeve clockwise all the way.
Hold the chuck in one hand to prevent it
dropping from the spindle, and tap with a
wooden or rubber mallet until the chuck
releases from the spindle.
USING THE CHUCK WITH A
CHUCK KEY
The chuck on the column drilling machine is
manual and its jaws are opened and closed
with the chuck key. To put a tool in the chuck:
1.
Lift up the chip guard (3)
2.
Insert the tool and then close the chuck
(15) jaws with the supplied chuck key (C).
Check that the tool is firmly inserted in the
chuck and then remove the chuck key.
WARNING!
Never leave the chuck key in the chuck –
remove immediately after locking the tool.
A chuck key would be thrown off and could
cause personal injury when starting the
spindle.

ADJUSTING THE SPINDLE SPEED
The spindle speed can be adjusted by moving
the drive belts (v-belts) between the different
slots in the pulleys. Follow the instructions
below.
FIG. 15
Switch off the machine and pull out the plug.
1.
Undo the two retaining screws on the belt
cover and open the cover.
2.
Undo the four adjuster screws and push
the motor (7) against the machine head.
3.
Move the three drive belts to the required
position.
4.
The spindle speed at the different belt
positions is indicated in the table.
5.
Tension the drive belts by pushing the
motor (7) away from the machine head
and tightening the 4 screws. With the
correct belt tension it should be possible
to lift the belts about 1 cm midway
between the pulleys.
6.
Close the belt cover and screw on the two
screws. The belt cover has a safety switch
and must be properly closed to start the
column drilling machine.
WARNING!
Never run the machine with the belt cover
open. Always unplug the plug from the
power point before opening the belt cover.
Never touch moving drive belts.
DEPTH STOP
NOTE:
When the handle is in its top position the tip
of the drill should be just over the edge of the
workpiece.
The depth stop (14) is used to limit the drilling
depth. The required drilling depth is adjusted
with the knurled nuts (T1) to the bottom stop
(T2).
