A
Reference frequency input (EXT IN) connector
To input a signal from an external reference signal generator
(10MHz output) or GPS receiver (1pps/10MHz output), connect
the output connector of that device to this EXT IN connector.
Use a commercially-available BNC coaxial cable (with 75Ω
or 50Ω impedance) for connection.
Set the toggle switch according to the signal input through this
connector.
1PPS
Select this mode when a 1pps signal from a GPS receiver or
other device is input through the EXT IN connector to oper-
ate with the built-in rubidium unit synchronized to the GPS.
OFF
The built-in rubidium unit is used for the reference clock.
10MHz
When a GPS receiver or other device that does not have 1pps
output is connected, select this mode and input the 10MHz
output from that device to the EXT IN connector. This unit
can internally generate a 1pps signal from the 10MHz input
signal and operate synchronized with the built-in rubidium
unit.
o If the output level of the external oscillator is outside the
allowable input range of this unit, it cannot be used. Refer to
the oscillator manual for information on the output level and
accuracy of the oscillator.
o Changing the reference signal takes some time.
Moreover, frequently changing the setting of this connector
could cause misoperation.
B
10MHz OUT connectors
These output 10MHz clock signals (sine wave, 0.5Vrms output
level, 50Ω output impedance).
Connect these 10MHz OUT connectors to the clock input con-
nectors of CD players, D/A converters and other digital devices
that support 0.5Vrms 10MHz input.
Use commercially-available BNC coaxial cables (with 75Ω
or 50Ω impedance) for connection.
Set the toggle switches according to how the connectors are
being used.
A.GND (Adaptive Zero Ground)
This outputs a 10MHz clock signal.
o The amp is used to drive the negative connector so that it
becomes 0 V.
OFF
Disabled
NOR (NORMAL)
This outputs a 10MHz clock signal.
C
LED brightness adjustment knob
Use to adjust the brightness of the indicators.
D
PREHEAT switch
ON
This turns the power for the rubidium oscillator on regardless
of the POWER button setting. This shortens the amount of
time until the oscillator stabilizes after the unit is turned on.
o Due to the nature of the rubidium oscillator, continuous
operation stabilizes the precision of operation, so we rec-
ommend turning this ON.
o When the unit power is off, clock is not output even though
the rubidium oscillator is operating.
o Power will be consumed even when the unit power is off.
OFF
The POWER button turns the rubidium oscillator on/off with
the unit.
o Set this switch when the unit power is on.
E
SIGNAL GND grounding terminal
Connecting this to the grounding terminal of a connected
digital device, amplifier or other equipment might improve the
audio quality.
o This is not an electrical safety ground.
F
Power inlet (~IN)
Connect the included power cord to this socket. After complet-
ing all other connections, plug the power plug into a power
outlet.
V
Use only a genuine Esoteric power cord. Use of other
power cords could result in fire or electric shock.
V
Disconnect the power plug from the outlet if you will not
use the unit for a long time.
At Esoteric, we use Esoteric MEXCEL stressfree cables for
