Installing sensor head for arc-shaped applications
(rotary motion < 360°)
For rotary movements the use of the installation
aid BAM TO-ML-018-01 is strongly
recommended.

For arc-shaped applications the motion range is < 360°
(arc-shaped measuring range).
1. Attach installation aid BAM TO-ML-018-01 (1) and
sensor head (2) to the machine using the screw (3).
2. Loosely attach sensor head directly to the machine (4).
3. Place spacer film (5) between sensor and installation
aid.
4. Position installation aid so that the sensor head is flush
at the rear with the line on the installation aid (6).
5. Align installation aid symmetrical to the shaft (7a, 7b).
6. Place sensor head against installation aid and shaft
and fasten using screw (3).
7. Fasten sensor head using screw (4).
8. Check whether installation aid is symmetrical with the
shaft (7a, 7b) and sensor head is flush with the line in
back (6).
9. Remove distance gauge (5).
10. Loosen screw (3) and remove installation aid in the axis
direction.
11. Use screw (3) to attach sensor head to the machine.
12. Secure the screws against unintended loosening (e.g.
with locking paint).

Installing sensor head for ring applications
(rotation motion ≥ 360°)
For rotary movements the use of the installation
aid BAM TO-ML-018-01 is strongly
recommended.

For ring applications the movement range of the ring is
≥ 360°.
Example: Ring BML-M38-A50-A0-M243/210-E
Other rings available on request.
1. Install ring and if needed adjust so that it is centered.
The distance to the sensor may change by max.
±0.1 mm.
2. Attach installation aid BAM TO-ML-018-01 (1) and
sensor head (2) loosely to the front of the machine
using the screw (3).
3. Loosely attach sensor head directly to the rear of the
machine (4).
4. Place spacer film (5) between sensor head and
installation aid.
5. Align installation aid symmetrical with the ring (7) (8a,
8b).
6. Position installation aid so that the sensor head is flush
at the rear with the edge (6) of the installation aid (red
line).
7. Press BML lightly against the ring and fasten using the
front screw (3).
8. Attach sensor head using rear screw (4).
9. Check whether installation aid is symmetrical with the
shaft (8a, 8b) and sensor head with the edge in
back (6).
10. Remove spacer film (5) from between sensor and
installation aid.
11. Loosen front screw (3) on sensor head.
12. Remove installation aid (1).
13. Tighten front screw (3) on sensor head.
14. Secure the screws against unintended loosening (e.g.
with locking paint).
