Instructions for Use
L1® storage system

5 Processing

Products supplied in non-sterile condition must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized before the first, and
reusable products before any further use.
Risk of infection from non-sterile handling!
The operator/user is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing the products used. It is essential
that national regulations, including restrictions, be observed.
• In case of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJK), suspected CJK or possible variants, observe the
applicable national regulations regarding processing of the products.
• Note that successful processing of these products can be ensured only after prior validation of the preparation
process. The operator/processor is responsible for this.
The recommended chemical agents were used for validation.
5.1

Reprocessing Limitations and Restrictions

Storage components:
Frequent reprocessing has little effect on the products. Product lifetime is usually determined by wear and
damage during use.
5.2

Pre-Treatment at the Application Location prior to Reprocessing

We recommend performing the reprocessing of the contaminated products as soon as possible after their
use. We generally recommend dry return transport within 6 h of use in a closed transport container.
• Remove any visible surgical residues during use and in any case immediately after use as completely as
possible using a damp, lint-free cloth.
• Hidden surfaces as well as cannulations, lumina and other cavities should be rinsed with demineralized
water, e.g. using a single-use syringe. This prevents fixation of dirt (in the lumen). The following generally
applies: The sooner the inner lumina are cleaned, the better the result will be.
5.3

Preparation before Cleaning and Disinfection

Cleaning and disinfection in cleaning machines is always to be preferred to manual cleaning, as mechanical
cleaning processes can be validated and standardized.
• Observe the manufacturers' operating and loading instructions
