Installing the product

Installation of the EVI-D31 camera
Before installing the camera, thoroughly read the manual supplied by the
manufacturer. The text adopts technical words, the sense of which is illustrated
only in the camera manual.
For installing the camera, you need:
• Operation manual (supplied with the camera)
• AC-EV3 adapter (supplied with the camera)
• Serial cable for the connection between the EVD RS232 and the EVI-D31 camera (not
supplied, for the cable arrangement, please refer to the section "Preparing the
connection cables" of this manual).
In case of connection to more cameras:
• Connecting cable for the cameras (not supplied, for the cable arrangement, please
refer to the section "Preparing the connection cables" of this manual).
Installation phases:
1. Set the backup switch to ON; for more information, read the paragraph "About backup"
at page 25 of the camera manual. This operation allows to keep both PRESET and MD
settings in memory, even when the camera is OFF.
2. Connect the VISCA IN socket of the EVI-D31 to the EVD RS232 DRIVER using the
supplied cable.
3. Set the selector switch CAMERA NO., located on the camera rear side, to position 1.
4. Turn on the camera by the special adapter supplied by Sony.
In presence of other cameras (up to 2):
1. Set the backup switch to ON.
2. Set the selector switch CAMERA NO., located on the camera rear side, to position 2 or
3.
3. Using the 8 poles mini-DIN-cable, connect the VISCA OUT socket of camera 1 to the
VISCA IN socket of camera 2; the same applies for camera 3.
4. Turn on the camera by the special adapter supplied by Sony.
Installing the EVD RS232 DRIVER
For the product installation, you need:
• Earthed power socket
• Power cord (standard supplied with the product)
Installation phases:
1. Connect the cable from camera 1 to the serial line connector.
2. Power and turn the EVD RS232 DRIVER on.
When turned on, the instrument carries out a test to check the proper connection to the
camera/s:
the three LEDs on the control panel switch on/off simultaneously;
then those corresponding to the connected cameras switch on.
In case of fault, the LED corresponding to camera 1 will signal an error by flashing 4 times
in sequence.
In such case, please read the "Error codes" paragraph.
