5 Operation

5.1 Switching the recorder on and off

During battery operation, for switching the unit on
and off, keep the button
more than 2 s; the display (4) shows
few seconds. If the unit is supplied via the USB
jack (20), it is switched on automatically (
chapter 4.5).
If nothing is shown in the display after switching
on or if the symbol
are exhausted and have to be replaced (
ter 4.5).
To save energy, the unit is switched off auto-
matically during battery operation if not in use, i.e.
no button is pressed for approx. 5 minutes. If the
unit is supplied via the USB jack, it is switched to
the USB mode after this time. To return to the stan-
dard recorder mode, press the button MODE /
STOP (10).

5.2 Recording titles

The memory of the DPR-2000 is organized as fol-
lows:
Two folders are provided at each memory loca-
tion, i. e. in the internal flash memory "F" and on an
inserted memory card "C". Titles recorded with the
DPR-2000 can only be memorized in "FOLDER 1"
while titles in "FOLDER 2" (e. g. copied into the
folder via the computer) can only be replayed.
With the DPR-2000 a maximum of 891 titles, di-
vided into 9 groups with 99 titles each, may be
recorded at each memory location. An individual
subfolder is created for each group (for more de-
tails see chapter 6).
1) Select the recording format / sampling rate
(
chapter 5.5).
2) Select the memory location: internal flash
memory "F" or an inserted memory card "C".
The presently selected memory location is
shown at position (q) in the display.
After inserting a memory card, this card is
automatically selected as a memory location.
If desired, change the memory location:
press the button MODE (10) and then the but-
ton F/C (8).
3) If "FOLDER 2" is selected [see display position
(c)], change to "FOLDER 1": press the button
MODE (10) and then the button
4) For providing the recording with a special title
number, select a free number with the buttons
and

lected is shown in the display at position (i).

To select another group, press the button
MODE (10). "MODE" (d) is displayed and the
group can now be selected with the buttons

. To return to the title selection, press
the button MODE again. "MODE" is deleted in
the display.
If no definite number has been selected, the
recorder automatically uses the next free posi-
tion for recording.
5) For recording via microphones align the micro-
phones used to the sound source. The installed
microphones (3) have an omnidirectional direc-
tivity. The microphones additionally supplied
can be fixed with their clamps e. g. at the
clothes or at music stands.
The sensitivity for the installed microphones
can be selected with the switch "MIC LEVEL" (7).
H:

With the switch positions H and L the signal of the
installed microphones is added to the signal of the
microphones additionally connected or to another
external signal source.
6) Press the button REC (8). Thus, the recording
starts. The recording symbol (l) is displayed
and the recording LED (5) lights up.
If
is displayed instead (maybe not until
a few seconds have passed), the selected
memory location is full and the recording can-
not be started. In this case delete the titles not
required any more (
other memory location or insert another mem-
ory card.
7) With the controls VOL (2) control the level of the
recording for the left channel and the right
channel so that the corresponding level indica-
tion (k) shows a maximum of 6 segments with
passages of high volume. Pay attention that the
correct input sensitivity is adjusted (
4.1) with the switch "AUDIO IN" (6) when using
the jacks "Audio in" (1). With incorrect adjust-
ment the recording may be distorted, although
the level indication still has reserves, i. e. the
seventh (slightly thicker) segment of the level
indication is not yet visible.
8) To interrupt the recording, press the button
(18). Now the recording symbol in the dis-
play (l) and the recording LED flash. After
pressing the button
the same title is continued.
9) To stop the recording, press the button STOP
(10).
