Inserting the Tool
Open the drill chuck 1 by turning until the tool can
be inserted. Insert the tool.
Keyless Chuck (see figure
The drill spindle is locked by pressing the spindle
lock button 2.
This makes quick and easy changing of the tool
in the drill chuck possible.
Firmly tighten the sleeve of the keyless chuck 1
by hand until the locking action ("click") is no
longer heard. This automatically locks the chuck.
The locking is released again to remove the tool
when the collar is turned in the opposite direction.
Caution! The chuck may be very hot:
During longer working periods, especially
when impact drilling, the chuck can become
very hot. In this case we recommend wearing
protective gloves.
Screwdriving Tools (see figure
When using screwdriver bits 21, a bit holder 22
should always be used. Use only screwdriver bits
that fit the screw head.
For driving screws, position the selector switch 4
to the symbol "Drilling and Driving".
Starting Operation
Observe correct mains voltage: The voltage of
the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Equipment marked with 230 V can also be con-
nected to 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch 7
and keep it depressed.
The machine runs with variable
speed between 0 and maximum,
depending on the pressure applied
to the On/Off switch 7. Light pres-
sure results in a low rotational
speed thus allowing smooth, con-
trolled starts. Do not strain the machine so heav-
ily that it comes to a standstill.
To lock on, push and hold the On/Off switch 7
and press the lock-on button 6.
To switch off the machine, release the On/Off
switch 7 or push and release it then.

Reversing the Rotational Direction
Operate
switch 8 only at a standstill.
The rotation direction of the machine can be re-
versed with the rotational direction switch 8

(when the On/Off switch 7 is actuated, the rota-
tional direction switch 8 is locked).

Press the rotational direction switch through to
the left stop (for drilling, impact drilling, driving in
screws, etc.).
Left Rotation (see figure
Press the rotational direction switch through to
the right stop (for loosening and unscrewing
screws and nuts).
Speed Preselection (PSB 650 RA)
The required speed can be preselected with the
thumbwheel 15 (also while running).

Drilling
The selector switch 4 engages noticeably and
can be actuated with the machine running.
Replacing the Drill Chuck
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Loosening the Drill Chuck
(see figure
Clamp the short end of an Allen key in the chuck.
Place the machine on a firm surface (e. g. work-
bench). Lock the drill spindle with the spindle
locking button 2, hold the machine firmly and
loosen the chuck by turning to the left, as when
unscrewing a screw ( ). Loosen a tight chuck by
giving the long end of the Allen key 23 a sharp
blow.
