Connecting the Probe to the R&S RTO Oscillo-
scope
The R&S RT-ZZ80 transmission line probe has been designed for use with
R&S RTO oscilloscopes.
1. Connect the SMA connector of the probe to the SMA to BNC adapter, see
chapter 1.4.2, "SMA Connector and SMA to BNC
2. Connect the SMA to BNC adapter to one of the BNC input connectors of the
oscilloscope. Turn the collar until it clicks, and check that it is locked securely.
3. On the "Vertical" menu of the R&S RTO, select "Probe Setup".
4. Select the "Predefined probe": "RT-ZZ80".
If you use another oscilloscope, make sure to configure the following settings:
● Input impedance of the channel = 50 Ω
● Unit = V
● Attenuation = 10 : 1
2.2
Auto Zero
The auto zero procedure performs an automatic correction of the zero error dis-
played on the oscilloscope's screen. The waveform is set to 0 V on the horizontal
centerline of the oscilloscope.
The R&S RT-ZZ80 has no zero error. However, differences in DUT and oscillo-
scope ground levels may cause zero errors to be displayed on the oscilloscope's
