14 PEAK Level Indicators
They
indicate
record-input
levels during
recording
and
output
level
during playback. Shown
are peak levels, in contrast to avergae levels
indicated by common, less responsive VU meters.
15 REC MUTE
Switch
Push it while recording, then you can create a pause. (''no signal" por-
tion) of any desired length between selections. The VU meters, head-
phone
jack and the LINE
OUT
(PLAY)
terminals are all "live" and
reflect input signals.
16 OUTPUT LEVEL Control
This control adjusts the monitor output Jevel when recording, and the
playback
output
level during playback.
It also controls the output to
the headphones during both record and playback. It does not control
the VU meters during either record or playback.
17 Tape Counter
18 Reset Button
Push the Reset button, and the Tape Counter will return to '000'. "Do
this before beginning to record or play back. The Tape Counter can be
used as an index; note the number
indicated by the counter and the
title of the musical tune you're recording, and the record will help you
locate the desired tune during playback.
19MEMORY
Switch
When this switch is engaged, pushing the * 44" button after recording
or playback will cause the tape to rewind to the position where the
Tape Counter reads 999."

The switch should normally be at the OFF position.
