COLD WEATHER OPERATION
NOTICE: Under extreme cold weather, the blade motor and driving function may not start successfully due to the low
temperature protection. Please do not make repeated attempts which may damage the machine. Always store the mower
and battery in warm environment. Restart the mower when it is warmed up. Recommended operating temperature is
32°F–104°F (0°C–40°C).
STARTING THE ELECTRIC ZERO TURN MOWER
Operating a zero turn mower is different from operating a standard riding mower. Zero turn mowers are rear-wheel drive
and the wheels operate independently as directed by the position of the lap bars. Before you begin to mow your grass, we
strongly encourage you to find a large, level, and open area to practice operating the mower using the instructions that
follow. Once you can comfortably and reliably perform each of these maneuvers, you are ready to begin mowing.
WARNING: Clear the area of bystanders before operating the mower. If anyone enters the mowing area, stop
immediately and do not continue mowing until the bystanders leave the area.
WARNING: Avoid sudden starts, stops, and turns, as well as exces sive speed, especially when first learning to
operate the mower. The mower can spin rapidly, which may cause you to lose control and could result in death, serious
per sonal injury and/or damage to the mower. Press the driving-speed adjustment button to the lowest speed (refer to
Driving Speed Adjustment Button in this manual) to limit the amount of speed avail able until you are fully capable of
operating the mower in all situations.
1. Insert the safety key.
2. With the safety key inserted, press the start/stop button for 3 seconds to illuminate the LCD screen.
3. Check for the appropriate driving mode by pressing the driving mode button.
NOTICE: It is always recommended to start the mower in the lowest driving speed.
4. Release the parking-brake pedal from the braking position and move the two lap bars inward from the open position
to the neutral position. You are ready to maneuver the lap bars to drive the mower.
5. Pull the PTO switch to start the cutting blades.
6. Push the lap bars forward for forward motion and pull back for reverse motion (Fig. 23).
NOTICE: The electric brake will engage until the lap bars are returned to the open position. When the lap bars are back in
neutral position, the mower just stops without braking electrically (Fig. 23).
NOTICE: When the mower is started on a slope, the moment the lap bars are pushed forward, the mower will keep still on
the slope without sliding along the slope. Once the lap bars are pushed forward enough, the mower can be driven forward
normally. This is a function of the Slope Assist feature for safe starting of EGO electric zero turn mower.
