6. Adjustment procedures: CROSSOVER ORIENTATION
MORE RESPONSIVE RIDE
MORE COMFORTABLE RIDE
NOTE: Elka Suspension's multi-spring setups always have the lightest springs on top.
Whichever way the spacers are oriented, the main spring compresses only after the
auxiliary springs have been compressed.
You can only change the orientation of the auxiliary spring crossovers on dual-rate,
triple-rate and quadruple-rate setups. You can use different combinations of orien-
tation for the two auxiliary springs crossovers on a quadruple-rate setup.

CROSSOVER SPACER ORIENTATION:
Elka Suspension's shock absorbers and spring upgrade kits
mostly use multiple springs to achieve a more progressive
ride. The compression of the springs can be controlled by
reorienting the crossover spacers between the springs to
allow a longer or shorter stroke. Each spacer has a wide side
and a narrow side. By changing the orientation of an auxiliary
spring's spacer, the spring's response becomes either firmer
or softer initially.
FOR A MORE RESPONSIVE RIDE (FIRMER) :
To obtain a more responsive ride, greater resistance to
bottoming out and less body roll, orient the crossover so the
LONGER SIDE FACES TOWARDS THE TOP of the shock
absorber as shown on the left. This will shorten the active
stroke of the auxiliary spring and cancel its action sooner
during the shock's compression. The ride will be firmer but will
provide more performance for an agressive riding style.
FOR A MORE COMFORTABLE RIDE (SOFTER) :
To obtain a more comfortable ride but less resistance to
bottoming out and more body roll, orient the crossover so the
shorter side faces towards the top of the shock absorber as
shown on the diagram at the left. This will extend the active
stroke of the auxiliary spring and cancel its action later during
the shock's compression. The ride will be softer, the
suspension will be more active and will provide more comfort
for a less agressive riding style.
