j) Resetting the maximum/minimum values
Press and hold down the "MEM -" (14) button for about 3 seconds to reset the minimum/maximum
values.
k) Warning of icing
A small snowflake icon (position of the icon: see arrow on
the right image) appears to the right of the outdoor tem-
perature, if the outdoor temperature is in the range of
-2 °C to +3 °C (+28 °F to +37 °F).
If the temperature is beyond this range, the snowflake
icon disappears again.
i) display lighting
Briefly pressing the "SNOOZE/LIGHT" button (12) will activate the display lighting for a few sec-
onds. Afterwards, it goes out automatically to save power.
m) Reset
-
If only meaningless characters appear on the display of the base station, briefly press the
"RESET" button (15) in the battery compartment using e.g. a toothpick. Alternatively, remove
the batteries and replace them again after a few seconds.
-
The outdoor sensor can be reset too. Press the "RESET" button (19) in the battery compart-
ment using e.g. a toothpick.
Afterwards, start the search for available outdoor sensors on the base station by briefly press-
ing the "SENSOR" (11) button.

a) base station
The display contrast decreases when the batteries run low. In that case, replace the batteries with
new ones. In this process, all settings and data will be lost. The process is described in the chapter
"Commissioning".
b) Outdoor sensor
The outdoor sensor sends a message to the base station indicating that the batteries are weak.
A battery icon appears to the left of the outdoor temperature. In that case, replace the batteries
with new ones.
If the outdoor sensor is not recognised after the battery replacement, perform a manual search
on the base station to find the available outdoor sensors (briefly press the "SENSOR" button (11)).
Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between the outdoor sensor and the base station is up
to 50 m under optimum conditions.
However, this range specification refers to the so-called "free-field range".
However, this ideal arrangement (e.g., base station and outdoor sensor on a plain, even meadow
without trees, houses, etc.) never exists in practice.
Normally the base station is set up at home and the outdoor sensor, e.g., is located next to a
window.
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be guaranteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house. If the base station
does not receive any data from the outdoor sensor (despite new batteries), please shorten the
distance between outdoor sensor and base station, change the location.
Sometimes the range can be considerably reduced due to:
-
Walls, concrete ceilings
-
Coated/vapour-deposited insulating glass panes, aluminium windows
-
Proximity to metallic & conductive objects (e.g. heating elements)
-
Proximity to human bodies
-
Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobile phones, radio-
controlled headphones, radio-controlled speakers, other radio-controlled base stations, baby
surveillance devices etc.)
Proximity to cables, electric motors, transformers, power supply units, computers
-
Proximity to mains sockets, network cables
-
Proximity to improperly shielded or uncovered operating computers or other electrical devices
Cleaning and maintenanCe
Apart from the occasional battery change, the product is maintenance-free for you. Maintenance
or repair work may be performed only by qualified personnel or a specialised repair shop. There
are no components inside of the product that need maintenance by you, this is why you should
never open it (apart from the approach to insert/replace the batteries, described in these operat-
ing instructions).
To clean the exterior of the base station and the outdoor sensor, a dry, soft and clean cloth is
sufficient.
Do not press too hard on the display of the base station, this may cause scratch marks or the
display to malfunction; furthermore, the display might even break.
Dust can be easily removed from the base station with a long-haired, soft and clean brush and a
vacuum cleaner.
Use a soft cloth that is slightly moistened with lukewarm water to remove stronger soiling from
the outdoor sensor.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these
could damage (discolouring) the housing or even impair function.
