j) resetting maximum/minimum values
Hold the "MEM" button (15) pressed for about 3 seconds to reset all minimum and maximum
values stored.
k) Warning for slippery roads
A small snowflake symbol appears to the right of the out-
door temperature (for the position of the symbol, see arrow
in the figure on the right) when the outdoor temperature is
between -2 °C and +3 °C (+28 °F and +37 °F).
The snowflake symbol disappears when the temperatures
are outside of this range.
l) display light
The display light is activated for a few seconds when the "SNOOZE/LIGHT" button (12) is pressed
briefly; it automatically switches off again afterwards to save energy.
m) Weather forecast
The base station calculates a weather forecast for the next 12 - 24 hours from the changes in the
atmospheric pressure over the last few hours/days. The accuracy achieves is approx. 70%.
Sunny
Partly cloudy
Please note:
-
If "Sunny" is displayed at night, this means a clear night with clearly visible stars.
-
The display does not represent the momentary weather situation, but is a forecast for the next
12 to 24 hours.
-
The calculation of the weather forecast based only on barometric pressure results in a maxi-
mum accuracy of about 70%. This means that the real weather can be totally different the fol-
lowing day. Since the measured barometric pressure is only valid for an area with a diameter of
about 50 km, the weather can also change quickly. This is especially the case in mountainous
areas and high mountain regions.
Therefore, do not depend on the weather forecast of the weather station, but inform yourself
locally when you would like to hike in the mountains, for example.
-
In case of sudden or larger air pressure fluctuations, the display symbols are updated to indi-
cate the weather change. If the display symbols do not change, either the air pressure did not
change or the change occurred so gradually that it cannot be registered by the base station.
-
If the weather forecast shows "Sunny" or "Rain", the display will not change even if the weath-
er improves (display "Sunny") or deteriorates (display "Rain") since those symbols already
display the two extreme conditions.
The symbols indicate a weather change for the better or worse, which does not have to mean
sun or rain, however, as indicated by the symbols.
-
After inserting new batteries, you should not pay attention to the measuring values and weath-
er forecasts for the first 12 to 24 hours, because the base station must first collect air pressure
data in this period at a constant height above sea level before being able to make a more exact
forecast.
-
If the base station is brought to a significantly higher or lower location than the original site
(e.g. from the ground floor to the upper storeys of a building) the base station may possibly
erroneously detect a change in weather.
n) reset
-
If only unintelligible signals are shown in the display, briefly press the "RESET" button (16),
e.g. using a toothpick. Alternatively, remove the batteries and insert them again after a few
seconds.
-
The outdoor sensor can also be reset by pressing the "RESET" button (20) inside the battery
compartment, e.g. using a toothpick.
Afterwards, start the search for available outdoor sensors at the base station by briefly press-
ing the "SENSOR" button (12).
rePlaCing tHe batteries
a) base station
The display contrast considerably decreases when the batteries run low. Replace the batteries
with new ones, if this is the case. All settings and data will be lost. The procedure is described in
the chapter "Start-up".
b) outdoor sensor
The outdoor sensor sends a signal to the base station if the batteries run low; a battery symbol
appears to the left of the outdoor temperature. Replace the batteries with new ones, if this is the
case.
If the outdoor sensor cannot be detected after replacing the batteries, perform a manual search
for available outdoor sensors at the base station (briefly press the "SENSOR" button (12)).
range
The transmission range of the radio signals between the outdoor sensor and the base
station is up to 50 m under optimum conditions.
These range specifications refer to the so-called "free-field range".
However, this ideal arrangement (e.g., base station and outdoor sensor on a plain, even meadow
without trees, houses, etc.) never exists in practice.
Normally the base station is set up at home and the outdoor sensor, e.g., is located next to a
window.
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be guaranteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house. If the base station
does not receive any data from the outdoor sensor (despite new batteries), please shorten the
distance between the outdoor sensor and base station or change the location.

Cloudy
Rain
Sometimes the range can sometimes be considerably reduced due to:
-
Walls, concrete ceilings
-
Coated/vapour-deposited insulating glass panes, aluminium windows
-
Proximity to metallic & conductive objects (e.g. heating elements)
-
Proximity to human bodies
-
Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobile phones, radio-con-
trolled headphones, radio-controlled speakers, other radio-controlled weather stations, baby
phones etc.)
Proximity to electric motors, transformers, power supply units, computers
-
Proximity to mains sockets, network cables
-
Proximity to improperly shielded or uncovered operating computers or other electrical devices
Cleaning and maintenanCe
Apart from the occasional battery change, the product is maintenance-free for you. Maintenance
or repair work may be performed only by qualified personnel or a specialised repair shop. There
are no components inside of the product that need maintenance by you, this is why you should
never open it (apart from the approach to insert or change the batteries, described in these in-
structions).
To clean the exterior of the base station, a dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient.
Do not press too hard on the display of the base station, this may cause scratches or the display
to malfunction; furthermore, the display might break.
Remove dust on the base station with a long-haired, soft and clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Use a slightly damp, soft cloth to remove dirt from the outdoor sensor.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these
could damage (discolouring) to the housing or even impair operation.
deClaration oF ConFormitY (doC)

disPosal
a) general
Electrical and electronic devices must not be disposed of as domestic waste!
Please dispose of the product when it is no longer of use according to current statutory
requirements.
b) single-use and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and re-
chargeable batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Single-use/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with
these symbols to indicate that dispose of in household waste is forbidden.
You can return used (rechargeable) batteries free of charge at the official collection
points in your municipality, our stores, or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold!
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
