FRONT HANDLE
The front handle should always be used to
guide and balance the tool. Use the front
handle for safe control and ease of operation.
OPERATING TIPS
Following a few simple tips will reduce wear
on both the tool and the operator.
1. Before beginning a cutting operation with
the shear, check the recommended clearances
for the material being cut.
2. Dull blades produce dull results! Always cut
with properly maintained blades. Refer to
blade Sharpening for instructions.
BLADE SHARPENING
After regrinding on a grinding stone suitable
for alloy tool steel, check the accuracy of
angles with the gauge provided in the
accessory group for the tool.
For very thick materials (8 and 10 gauge
shears), easier starts and longer blade life
can be realized if the working surface of the
upper blade has been ground to a .08" radius
and .004" depth as shown.

3. With the tool in the "OFF" position, become
familiar with handling the tool. The tool may be
held along the handle wherever it is fond
comfortable while cutting.
4. For clean and fast cuts, hold the shear so
that the upper (reciprocating) blade is at about
a 10º angle to the material being cut. Do not
force the shear through the work. If the shear
does not cut correctly, recheck for proper
blade clearances and dull blades.
5. Do not exceed the recommended capacities.
