90° motion detector with a potential-free contact
Fitting and operating instructions
1. USE
The motion detector 350-41279 complete with potential-free contact is suitable for controlling HVAC, Niko
Home Control... The device has a 90° detection angle, 5 adjustable sensitivity levels and works on the basis
of Passive infrared (PIR) technology.
It is possible to set both the switch-off delay of the potential-free relay and the sensitivity of the detector on the device.
The motion detector is used in indoor and outdoor systems (for outdoor use, use the optional cover 350-41902).
Areas of application:
• corridors
• offices
• school premises
• conference premises
• canteens
• exhibition premises
• sports halls
• ...
2. INSTALLATION
2.1. Assembly area
The motion detector responds to heat and movement within its environment. Motion detectors are most sensitive
to movements occurring vertically in the 'detection beams' (fig. 2). Avoid placing near heat sources: ovens,
electrical radiators, ventilation systems, mobile ceiling decoration ... These can all cause unwanted activation
of the motion detector (fig. 1).
When using the motion detector in the outdoors it should be fitted with the protective optional cover (350-41902),
which makes the motion detector splashproof (fig. 3).
Caution: bear in mind that partitions, glass, plants, furniture, etc. will block the detection beams.
2.2. Mounting height and range
Mount the motion detector against a wall using the brace supplied or directly in a corner.
You can direct the motion detector simply by bending the brace (fig. 5). To achieve their max. range, motion detectors
should be fitted flat against a wall (V+0°). The lens takes account of the necessary inclination to the ground.
Make sure that the detector is not hanging upside down. The label placed at the back of the sensor will help you.
If the printed circuit board is removed, do ensure that when it is put back the distance between the housing and
the topside of the printed circuit board is at least 1 mm (fig. 7).
2.3. Connecting the detector
Connect the detector as shown in the wiring diagram (fig. 6a).
Open the motion detector by placing a screwdriver in the groove at the base and turning (fig. 4).
When connecting motion detectors in parallel, please consult fig. 6b.
2.4. Cabling
Max. 2 x 2 x 0.6 mm for a distance of 200 m.
3. OPERATION
3.1. General
After connection to the power supply, motion detectors are ready for operation after a 1-2 min. warm-up period.
You can set the sensitivity level under the front plate of the lens (fig. 8). The motion detector's factory settings
are appropriate for use under normal conditions. If the motion detector is too sensitive or insufficiently sensitive
it is possible to regulate detection using the potentiometer on the left. If the motion detector is too sensitive or
insufficiently sensitive it is possible to regulate detection using the upright potentiometer on the left. The time
goes from "Test" (2 secs.) to max. 30 mins. You can test the detection zones using the built-in walking test (fig. 9).
Note: Test just one motion detector at a time. Set the time on the potentiometer to the "Test" position. In test
position B the LED lights up each time the motion detector detects movement. Set the jumper back to position
A after the walking test has been completed.
Note: The lens must be in place during a walking test.
4. MAINTENANCE
A dirty lens affects the operation of the motion detector. Keep the detector lens clean. Use a damp cloth for
cleaning. Use water mixed with normal cleaning agent. Avoid pressing hard against the lens.
5. FACTORY SETTINGS
Factory setting:
Switch-off delay: 30 seconds (30 s on the label)
Sensitivity: set to position 12 u ~ 15 metres
LED: Position A = off
