2.2.1.5 No-smart Pb or Lithium batteries with internal BMS
CAUTION: The instructions below for connecting batteries do not replace their installation manual.
Always refer to the battery installation manual and the WBM installation manual.
The WRM60 X is a photovoltaic module charge controller that can also handle electrochemical (no-smart) lead-
acid sealed (SEAL), free acid (FLOOD) and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. You should always check the specifications
of the battery to ensure that it is compatible with the controller. Lithium batteries must have a built-in BMS
(Battery Management System); we recommend that you contact Western CO. for the choice of Lithium ion
battery to connect to the WRM60 X. It is absolutely forbidden to connect lithium batteries to the WRM60 X that
do not have a built-in BMS; the BMS protects the battery from abnormal operating conditions that could lead to
the battery catching fire. Connecting non-BMS equipped batteries to the WRM60 X may cause the battery to
catch fire.
In this mode the WBM switch in Pic.3 must be set to ON for both positions.
