Serial link wiring

3.1.

RS232 serial link wiring

The ARF7499B is delivered with an RS232 cable interface with a female SUBD-9. The modem is wired as a DCE
equipment.
The outgoing data from the modem are wired on pin 2. The incoming data from the external equipment comes on
pin 3. Pin 5 is used to connect GND between the external equipment and the modem.
Pin 1, pin 4 and pin 6 are internally wired together.
Pin 7 & 9 are not connected.

RS485 serial link wiring

The ARF7499C is delivered with two pairs of cables, wired as detailled below :
Power supply: Red: +V
Black: 0V
By default, the DE and RE lines are declared LOW, thus permitting reception of characters from the RS485
differential bus. The DE and RE lines are only declared HIGH when one or more characters need to be trans-
mitted by the modem on the RS485 differential bus: when a radio frame is demodulated, the lines are declared
HIGH, then the data extracted from the radio frame are sent to the TXD module, and as a consequence to the
