This conversion kit is to be installed by an Empire Comfort Systems, Inc. distribu tor (or other qualified
agency )* in accordance with the manufac turer's instruc tions and all codes and requirements of the

authority having jurisdiction. Failure to follow instructions could result in serious injury or property
damage. The qualified agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this conversion.

person or through a representative is engaged in and is responsi ble for (a) the installation of gas
piping or (b) the connection, installation repair, or servicing of equipment, who is experienced
in such work, familiar with all precau tions required, and has complied with all the requirements
of the authority having jurisdic tion.
Robertshaw gas valves with production dates beginning with code 0306 and ending with 0436 are
subject to a Robertshaw Controls Company voluntary recall. Do not convert valves in this date
code range. Valves that have been repaired can be converted. Call the Robertshaw recall hotline
at 1(800) 232-9389 or visit www.robertshaw.com.
The date code on the valve label is next to a small diamond shape with the letter "X" inside it.

Perform the safety shutdown test any time work is done on a gas system to avoid the possibility
of fire or explosion with property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
SAFETY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM
Continuous Ignition Systems
1. Place gas control knob in PILOT position. Main burner should go off and pilot should remain lit.
2. Extinguish pilot flame. Pilot gas flow should stop within 3 minutes. Safety shut-off of pilot gas proves complete shutdown
since safety shut-off valve blocks flow of gas to main burner and pilot.
3. Relight pilot burner and operate system through one complete cycle to make sure all controls operate properly.
