14. Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between radio camera and the screen/DVR is up to 100 m under
optimum conditions.
However, the range values refer to the so-called „free field range". However, this ideal arrange-
ment (e.g. radio camera and screen/DVR on a plain, even meadow without trees, houses, etc.) is,
however, never possible in practice.
Usually, the screen/DVR is set up in the house and the radio camera is installed at a carport or in
a stairwell.
Due to the different influences on radio transmission, no specific range can be guaranteed, un-
fortunately.
Usually, however, operation in a family home is possible without any problems.
If the screen/DVR does not receive any AV signal from the radio camera, reduce the distance
between the screen/DVR and the radio camera or align the aerials differently.
It is best when the aerials are in parallel to each other. The range reduces too far if the aerial tips
point at each other.
The range may be considerably reduced by:
• Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
• Coated/metallised insulated glass, aluminium windows, etc.
• Trees, shrubbery, earth, rocks
• Proximity to metal & conductive objects (e.g. heaters, steel doors)
• Proximity to the human body
• Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (router, WLAN devices, mobile phones, radio head-
phones, etc.)
• Proximity to electrical motors, transformers, mains adapters, screens
• Proximity to mains sockets, mains cables
• Proximity to badly shielded or openly operated computers or other electrical devices
