5.0 Operation modes
5.1 Series 100 (models 115, 118 and 119)
On a Series 100 furnace, the operation is as follows:
Heating mode (model 115 as example):
When the thermostat is not calling for heat:
•
The elements are not energized and the blower is OFF.
When the thermostat is calling for heat:
•
After a delay, the blower will start at the medium speed.
•
After a second delay, the first 5KW element will energize.
•
After a third delay, the second and third 5KW elements will energize.
When the demand is satisfied:
•
The sequence above is reversed until all elements and the blower are OFF.
Cooling mode (model 115 as example):
When the cooling thermostat is not calling for cooling:
•
The elements are not energized and the blower is OFF.
When the cooling thermostat is in demand (circuit closed between Rc and G):
•
The blower will start on the highest speed.
When the demand is satisfied:
•
The blower will stop.
5.2 Series 200 (models 215, 218, 219, 315, 318 and 319)
On a Series 200 or 300 furnace, the operation depends on the position of the switches on the top front panel.
Please refer to figure 6 shown earlier for a schematic of the switches on the front panel. The LED is lighted only
when there is a demand for heat (the circuit is closed between Rh and W1 or W2 or W3).
Heating mode (model 215 as example)
Low speed switch at AUTO and power switch at 5KW (lowest position):
When the thermostat is not calling for heat:
•
The elements are not energized and the blower is OFF.
When the thermostat is calling for heat:
•
After a delay, the blower will start on low speed.
•
After a second delay, the first 5KW element will energize.
When the demand is satisfied:
•
The sequence above is reversed until all elements and the blower are OFF.
Low speed switch at ON and power switch at 5KW:
When the thermostat is not calling for heat:
•
The elements are not energized and the blower is on low speed.
When the thermostat is calling for heat:
•
After a first delay, the first 5KW element will energize.
When the demand is satisfied:
•
The sequence above is reversed until all elements are OFF. The blower keeps running on low speed.
Low speed switch at AUTO and power switch at 10KW ( highest position):
When the thermostat is not calling for heat:
•
The elements are not energized and the blower is OFF.
