General notes on covering
- We recommend that you cover the model with Super-
Solarfilm. The film should be applied according to the
instructions supplied with the material.
- The trim stripes can be cut from Solartrim and applied in
the arrangement shown in the illustration.
Note on the cabin glazing
- There are two options for the cabin glazing: you can apply
decals to the covering film to simulate the glazing, or glue
clear plastic glazing panels behind the window openings.
- If you wish to fit clear glazing, use the decals as cutting
templates for the plastic sheet, remembering to cut the
panels slightly oversize. Cut away the covering film over
the window openings and glue the clear plastic panels
behind them.
General notes on installing the RC and power systems
- Read the instructions supplied with your radio control
system before installing the receiver; this applies in parti-
cular to the deployment of the flexible wire aerial attached
to the receiver.
- Solder matching connectors to the power system com-
ponents, referring to the instructions supplied with the
units. Ensure that it is not possible to connect the parts
with reversed polarity.

- Set the rudder and elevator servos RC 4 to centre from
the transmitter.
- Install the servos in the servo plate, and secure them with
the retaining screws supplied in the servo accessory
pack.
- Form a double bend (Z-bend) in the front end of the pus-
hrods RC 6, and cut them to the lengths stated in the
Parts List.
Assembly and operating instructions
Charterle
- Check that the pushrods fit through the holes in the servo
output levers RC 5.
Figs. 52 and 53
- Cut the guide tubes RC 7 to the lengths stated in the
Parts List.
- Slip the pushrod support R 3 onto the guide tubes.
- Slip the pushrods RC 6 into the guide tubes RC 7 and
connect them to the servo output arms.
- Arrange the pushrods in such a way that they cross over
inside the fuselage. Do not glue part R 3 in place at this
stage.
Fig. 54
- Press the servo output levers RC 5 onto the servo output
shafts, and secure them using the output screws sup-
plied.
- Glue the pushrod support R 3 to the former R 1 only.
Fig. 55
- Locate the blind hole in the centre rib F 9, and continue
the hole right through the wing using a 4 mm Ø bit.
Figs. 56 and 57
- The wing and ailerons should be covered at this stage.
- Place the ailerons in their recesses, and attach each one
using a full-length strip of clear adhesive hinge tape
(Tesafilm or similar). Take care to centre the tape over the
full length of the aileron.
- Fold the ailerons up and over onto the top of the wing,
and apply short strips of tape on the underside to prevent
the hinge working loose.
- Check that the ailerons move freely up and down to the
travels stated later in these instructions.
- Remove the film over the central 4 mm Ø hole in the wing,
the servo output arms and the extension lead holes.
Fig. 58
- Cut the aileron pushrods RC 8 to a length of 55 mm, and
form a Z-bend in one end of each rod.
9
- Remove the film over the slots for the aileron horns F 7.
- Note: the aileron, rudder and elevator horns are shaped
differently. Be sure to use the horns shown in the detail
drawing.
Fig. 59
- Glue the horns in the ailerons and connect the pre-formed
pushrods to the aileron servos.
- Tape the ailerons at neutral and mark the point where the
pushrods cross the horn linkage holes.
Fig. 60
- Bend the pushrods as shown in the photo and snip off the
excess rod length.
Fig. 61
- Connect the pushrods to the aileron horns using pieces of
heat-shrink tubing. Take care not to damage the covering
film when shrinking the sleeves.
Fig. 62
- Cover the fin with iron-on film, then remove the material
over the joint areas as shown.
Fig. 63
- Cover the rudder, then attach it to the fin using hinge tape
(Tesafilm or similar), as described for the ailerons.
Figs. 64 and 65
- Uncover the slot for the rudder horn S 4, and glue the
horn in the slot.
Fig. 66
- Glue the horn L 17 in the elevator using the same proce-
dure.
Fig. 67
- Cover the fuselage overall. Cover the battery compart-
ment hatch separately.
Fig. 68
- Remove the covering film from the underside of the motor
compartment and over the slot for the main undercarria-
ge.
