Operation
Before any work on the machine itself (e. g. mainte-
nance, tool change, etc.) as well as during transport
and storage, remove the battery from the power tool.
There is danger of injury when unintentionally actuating
the On/Off switch.

Starting Operation

Inserting the Battery
Use only original Bosch lithium ion batteries with the
voltage listed on the nameplate of your power tool. Us-
ing other batteries can lead to injuries and pose a fire haz-
ard.
Note: Use of batteries not suitable for the machine can lead to
malfunctions of or cause damage to the power tool.
– Insert the charged battery 6 into the handle until it can be
felt to engage and faces flush against the handle.
Switching On and Off
– To start the machine, push the On/Off switch 4 forward so
that the "I" is indicated on the switch.
– To switch off the machine, push the On/Off switch 4 to-
ward the rear so that the "0" is indicated on the switch.
The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharging
by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery is
empty, the machine is switched off by means of a protective
circuit: The inserted tool no longer rotates.
Note: If the machine should automatically switch off because
of a discharged or overheated battery, make sure to set the
machine's On/Off switch 4 to off. Charge the battery and al-
low it to cool down before restarting the machine. Otherwise
the battery can become damaged.

Working Advice

Do not strain the machine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
Never touch the blade during operation 10.
The cutting performance of the machine depends on the ma-
terials to be cut and on the charging condition of the battery.
Depending on the charge condition of the battery, excessive
feed considerably reduces the performance capability.
Always keep the blade free and clean of material remainders.
The guide edge 12 may not become wedged during cutting
and must be aligned parallel to the cutting surface.
Improper use will make the blade dull.
Thin materials, such as fabrics, can be pulled into the machine
during cutting and become wedged. Therefore, do not apply
too much pressure with such materials in order to achieve
good cutting results. During cutting, apply sufficient tension
while holding fabrics and cut slowly.
Do not remove drawn in material during operation and switch
the power tool off first with the On/Off switch 4.
Optimum cutting results are best determined through practi-
cal testing.
Bosch Power Tools
Adjusting the Blade Guard
Never operate the machine without the blade guard 3.
For optimal protection of your fingers against injuries, the
blade guard must be adjusted to the material thickness being
cut before each work step.
– Loosen the knurled screw 1.
– Adjust blade guard 3 in such a manner that it faces loosely
against the material to be cut.
– Tighten knurled screw 1 again.
Note: Position the blade guard 3 completely down each time
after using the machine and before carrying out an inspection
or maintenance.
"Cut Control" Cutting-line Mark
The red line on the blade guard ("Cut Control" cutting-line
mark 2) indicates the cutting line of the blade 10.
This allows for precise guiding of the machine alongside the
cutting line marked on the material.
Temperature Dependent Overload Protection
When using as intended for, the machine cannot be overload-
ed. In case of excessive loading or when exceeding the allow-
able battery temperature range of 0–70 °C, the speed is re-
duced or the machine switches off. In case of reduced speed,
the machine will not run at full speed until after reaching the
allowable battery temperature again. In case of automatic
shut-off, switch the machine off, allow the battery to cool
down and then switch the machine on again.
Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery
Protect the battery against moisture and water.
Store the battery only within a temperature range between
0 °C and 50 °C. As an example, do not leave the battery in the
car in summer.
A significantly reduced working period after charging indi-
cates that the battery is used and must be replaced.
Observe the notes for disposal.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

Before any work on the machine itself (e. g. mainte-
nance, tool change, etc.) as well as during transport
and storage, remove the battery from the power tool.
There is danger of injury when unintentionally actuating
the On/Off switch.
For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
While cutting, material residue can accumulate under the
blade guard.
– Clean the blade guard 3 regularly using a brush or lightly
moistened cloth.
If the machine should fail despite the care taken in manufac-
turing and testing procedures, repair should be carried out by
an after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
