Replacing the Battery

With the purchase of an additional ba ttery, you can have a fully char ged spare to swap with one that is not
charged. There are two ways to swap batteries, cold-swapping and hot-swapping:
Cold-swapping Batteries
To cold-swap batteries in your battery bay follow these easy steps:

Have a charged battery ready to install.

Shut down your notebook and disconnect the AC adapter.

Turn the system over so the bottom is facing up, oriented as in Figure 21.

While pressing the battery lock (1), slide the battery bay release latch (2) to the right to unlatch it. Lift the battery
out of the bay using the lift point adjacent to the release latch to lift it

Insert a new battery into the bay, and press it down so that the latches click into place.

Plug in the AC adapter and turn the power on.
Hot-swapping Batteries
To hot-swap batteries in your battery bay follow these easy steps:

Plug an AC Adapter into the system and connect it to a power outlet.
