Maximum freezing capacity

Food should be frozen thoroughly as quickly as possible.
This is the only way to retain vitamins, nutritional value,
appearance and taste.
You will find information on the maximum freezing
capacity in 24 hours on the rating plate.
The maximum freezing capacity is reached in the upper
part of the freezer compartment.

This is how you can save energy

Install the appliance in a dry, ventilated room, out
D
of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (e.g.
heating elements, cooker). Use an insulating plate if
necessary.
Let food and drinks cool down before placing them
D
in the appliance.
Place frozen goods in the refrigerator to thaw.
D
Use the low temperature of the frozen food to cool
down food.
Open the appliance door for as short periods as
D
possible.

Defrosting

A frost or ice layer will form in your appliance after long
periods of operation. The frost or ice layer forms more
quickly if the appliance is opened frequently or food is
stored while warm. A thicker layer of ice, however,
increases energy consumption. For this reason, you
should defrost the appliance regularly.
Information!
Do not use sharp objects to remove ice.
1. Switch on SuperFrost one day before defrosting the
appliance. The frozen foods can use the cooling
reserve.
2. Switch off the appliance. The temperature display
goes out.
If the temperature display does not go out, the
childproof lock (see the Childproof lock section) is
active.
3. Unplug the appliance from the mains or switch off
the fuse.
48
4. Place the rechargeable refrigeration batteries on top
of the frozen food.
5. If necessary, wrap frozen food in the drawer in
newspaper or blankets and store it in a cool place.
6. Place a pan containing hot, but not boiling, water on
a middle shelf. This will accelerate defrosting.
Leave the appliance door open while the freezer is
defrosting.
7. Remove pieces of ice that have loosened.
Make sure that the defrost water does not run into
the surrounding kitchen cabinet. If necessary,
absorb defrost water repeatedly with a sponge or
cloth.
8. Clean the appliance (see the Cleaning the appliance
section) and rub it dry.

Switching off the appliance

Press and hold the on/off button for approximately
D
2 seconds until the temperature display goes out.

Putting the appliance out of service

If you do not use the appliance for long periods:
1. Remove all food from the appliance.
2. Switch off the appliance.
3. Unplug the appliance from the mains or switch off
the fuse.
4. Clean the inside of the appliance (see Cleaning the
appliance").
5. To prevent odours from forming, leave the appliance
door open.
