heights to allow the space-saving installation of
higher components. Windows and flaps for
MCBs and RCCBs can be built into the covers.
All the switchgear assemblies are prepared for
wall mounting. The fixing lugs of standard stain-
less steel enclosures cannot only be fitted at the
bottom or top, but also on the sides. Customized
versions with feet or support arm systems can
be used as free-standing or hanging units.
All equipment and components that are
designed and manufactured in a standardized
type of protection can be built into controlgear
combinations in the type of protection 'Increased
Safety e'. Basically these included the types of
equipment protection by increased safety 'e',
flameproof enclosure 'd', encapsulation 'm' and
intrinsic safety 'i'.
When installing intrinsically safe displays in the
external enclosure wall, it is necessary to ensure
that the ageing test, the impact test and the tests
for the IP degree of protection have been carried
out as part of the conformity assessment proce-
dure or have been certified.
The switchgear assemblies in the type of protec-
tion 'Equipment protection by increased safety e'
can, for example, be fitted with the following Ex
equipment and Ex components: control equip-
ment, displays, measuring instruments, plugs
and sockets, MCBs, RCCBs, manual motor
starters, transformers, contactors, relays of sup-
ply devices
In the case of switchgear assemblies with a level
of protection 'ec', additional built-in equipment
such as operator panels and terminals with inte-
grated fuses may also be used.
The equipping of explosionproof switchgear
assemblies with equipment, components and
terminals is restricted to such a degree that, in
spite of the internal dissipation, the surface tem-
perature or the temperature of individual hot
spots on the inside satisfies the requirements for
the respective temperature class stated on the
type label.
