Use environment
The Q Path® NovaBrush® Family is intended to be used in professional healthcare environments, for example hospitals, doctor's offices and diagnostic laboratories.
COMPOSITION
Polypropylene and polyethylene
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Brushes Q Path® NovaBrush® must be stored in a dry location, away from any dust.
Do not use if the package is damaged.
Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
ADDITIONAL SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
Speculum.
Vial of Q Path® Easyfix® cellular conservative.
Slide and cytology fixative Q Path® Labofix®.
Gloves.
PROTOCOL
Liquid-based cytology
1.
Insert the NovaBrush® into the cervix for a specimen sampling on the exo-endocervical junction.
2.
Execute the sampling by a gentle pressure and a rotation of 5 times in a clockwise direction and then pull out the brush with precaution avoiding the
contact with the speculum.
3.
Insert the NovaBrush® in the prefilled vial with cytology fixative, shake the NovaBrush®.
4.
To release the brush, use a gentle pressure on the handle downwards, holding firmly the vial: the brush will release easily.
5.
Remove the handle, close the vial, identify the patient.
Conventional cytology
1.
Insert the NovaBrush® into the cervix for a specimen sampling on the exo-endocervical junction.
2.
Execute the sampling by a gentle pressure and a rotation of 5 times in a clockwise direction and then pull out the brush with precaution avoiding the
contact with the speculum.
3.
Spread out the sample on the slide, taking care to cover the largest surface area possible.
4.
Fix the sample using a fixative e.g. Q Path® Labofix®.
5.
Allow to dry and clearly identify the slide.
6.
Discard the brush in a disposal container provided for this purpose.
7.
Ensure that the sample reaches the cytopathology laboratory as quickly as possible.
METHODOLOGY
Brushes Q Path® NovaBrush® allow to do a representative sampling of cells of the cervix for a cytological examination.
