6. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
The vertical position of the panel pratically prevents any metal partical
from accumulating. Nevertheless these particles can foret a layer on the
bottons of the «welding» compartment frequent blasting of tall the
doubtfully clean parts is always recommented using very dry air or failing
dry air, a jet of sIzielding gas.
In normal conditions of use these accessories have a long service life be-
fore requiring replacement. Nevertheless it may happen that the quality
of vire employed affects their strength ; this is displayed either by signs
of excessive ware, or by clogging due to an adherent deposit. To rninimize
these negative affects, the state of cleanliness of the panel 8/souk' be
given particular attention.
Moreover, carefully place the end piece of the wire feed sheath on the
convection sleeve so as to correctly position the wire guide sheath inlet.
is prudent to periodically look into the condition of the collector.
It
One of the causes of impairnzent to a collector is due to the fact that
having reached an excessive degree of avare, the brushes are note longer
guided in their housing and they move cross-wise the copper strips are
scored, the current flows badly, flashes occure, putting the collector out
of order.
Whenever replacing brushes it is necessary to run them in before corn-
mencing welding. This running in consists in letting the motor run no
load (counter-reel raised) at average speed for at least one pour and
two if possible, after which the motor can be loaded again, tisat is to
say effectively unwing the wire.
In ails respect the usual instructions are applicable and require no
special observation.
We warmly reconsmend not leaving any metal spray to accunsulate on
the nozzle and contact tube. Removal of this spray is all the easier when
done at close intervals and without using any liard tool which would
score the surfaces of the nozzle and contact tube, favouring the subse-
quent clinging of spray. Pay special attention to the latter wich may
stick astride the end of the contact tube and on the wire, blocking
unwinding. Against this spray we recommend SAFNET NIG 9159-
0176, supplied with the apparatus.
